What got me was when the press conference ended the reporters were all jolly, like they were thinking "Boy, this will really hurt Bush...hahaha."

I hate them all. Grrr.

Good one. Except they should add, "He'll try to reinstate it, then vote against his own bill when it comes up for a vote ---because even HE knows that his party is a bunch of DIMWILLIES."

Murtha is just trailing along with his traitorous party leaders - like a little puppy dog.

For a Dem, Murtha had been a pretty stand-up guy on military issues. But he basically said that the soldiers couldn't speak for themselves and "we have to speak for them."

Challenging their accusations, either in court as Rep. DeLay is doing, or on this vote tonight, is the only way to expose their lies and veracity on all issues, not just the WOT.

Everyone has been upset with President Bush for not rebutting these slanders and libel, but I think two things were in play.

1) Fitzgerald's investigation - it does center around aspects of the WOT/Iraq theater. Had WH officials countered these charges, no doubt the claims would be the officials were trying to influence the outcome.

2) For liberals excess is never enough. Encouraged by the MSM's attention, they went from sly implication that the President lied to outright calling for troop withdrawal.

Perhaps President Bush allowed them to reach their excesses until they exposed their true beliefs and had no hope of recovering.

"The press is pretending that Rep. John Murtha had been a longtime, staunch supporter of the Iraq war right up until yesterday's "shocking reversal,""

Interesting, there was a seminar caller on the Tony Snow radio show with John Gibson, who did the same thing.

She said she just "changed her mind on the war, last week" But you could tell that that was a lie.

WHOA! This should be its own thread.

"Most notably, this agreement permanently tears down 'the wall' that prior to 9/11 prohibited the sharing of information between the law enforcement and intelligence communities and hindered their ability to 'connect the dots.' I am concerned the recent snag in support for the agreement gets us a little closer to rebuilding 'the wall.' We must permanently eliminate 'the wall' -- and this agreement does that.

"This agreement also ensures our tools to fight the next Mohammed Atta intent on killing thousands of Americans are at least as tough as those to fight drug dealers and organized crime.
