A nationwide campaign to stop school children from eating fish made a stop in Pensacola today. People for the ethical treatment of animals held a demonstration in front of two Escambia County schools. They passed out trading cards that featured cartoon characters who are suffering from what they claim to be the effects of eating fish. PETA spokesperson Karin Robertson says eating fish is the most toxic thing we can do to ourselves.
Karin Robertson/PETA Spokesperson: "There's more chemicals in fish than any other product that is licensed and approved to be sold in a grocery store. We wouldn't be eating, uh feeding lead paint chips to our kids. We shouldn't be feeding fish to them either."
Bobby Kay/Protesting PETA: "So is the lettuce they're eating. The lettuce that they're eating is toxic they're sprayed with chemicals and these people just don't know it. Obiously they've eaten so much lettuce the toxicity has gone to their head and they can't think properly."
The PETA demostration inspired a protest at Brownsville Middle School. A local radio station and the Oyster Barn on Bayou Boulevard teamed up to give away free fish sandwiches to encourage people to eat fish.
Guess she has never tried a turd.
Were they nekkid?
PETA people come in three flavors.
1) Disgruntled 60's flower-children that hate that their philosophies were rejected by sensible people and hate everything to do with people in general.
2) Naive, light in the logic skills coeds who think animals are cute and don't like to think of a cuddly kitten being hurt.
3) Guys who want to score with those coeds.
Once I was teaching Eskimo (Yup'ik) kids in a small village along the Kuskokwim River. I shared with them PETA propoganda about fishing - how the fish feels pain, why fishhooks are bad, how they should eat veggies instead of meat. It was one of the few times that these kids were rolling on the floor with laughter, with tears streaming down their faces. Finally, after a long while, and the laughs subsided, one of the kids asked me if they were serious. I told them they were. He told me, "Some white people are really crazy."
In honor of PETA, tonight I'm going to have some salmon. It's a shame that someone somwhere takes these PETA morons seriously.
(People for the Eating of Tasty Animals)
Protesting outside a public school is only illegal if the protester is a Christian, with a Bible, demanding the right to Prayer and freedom to Practice (remember "Congress shall make no law RESTRICTING")Christianity in Public Schools (along side Islam, Hinduism, etc).
Best bumper sticker I've ever seen in my life...
"If God doesn't want us to eat animals, then why did he make them out of meat?"
"There's more chemicals in fish than any other product that is licensed and approved to be sold in a grocery store."
Ok. How about we're eating fish to put them out of their misery?
These people give village idiots a bad name. Seafood is a way of life here in Pensacola. The way these retards are talking, you would think Pensacola was another Minamata
When has this ever stopped the animal-nazies?
Bring 'em on to our school, our Soup Nazi will teach them a thing or two! (And trust me guys, that woman EARNED that nickname!)
That's what I'd like to know. They dressed someone in a fish costume and had him parading around handing out pamphlets to young kids.
Their "kind" is unemployed, unemployable, control freaks who have zip up top.
LOL! Smart Alaskan kid, too! Good story :)
Where are all the schoolhouse crazies with weapons when you REALLY NEED THEM anyway???
Come on FNC....get a backbone!
