Oh boy, here we go.

Will a Brit please step in and clear the air?

IMHO, for better or worse, what ever we feel on either side of the Pond, she is THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND and I think the British opposition just slid over to our side.

"She has an enormous amount of power and authority (not only in the UK but in Canada, NZ and Australia too) - she just chooses not to exercise it."

The 'powers' that she has are merely theoretical and illusory in that, if she tried to actually exercise them, she'd find herself de-queened fairly quickly. It's not merely a choice not to exercise them (although I'm not saying she wants to).

To describe her then as having 'power to rule' is not accurate in terms of any real world situation.

Okay you guys, from the official British Monarchy website: http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page1.asp

The Queen is the United Kingdom's Head of State. As well as carrying out significant constitutional functions, The Queen also acts as a focus for national unity, presiding at ceremonial occasions, visiting local communities and representing Britain around the world.

The Queen is also Head of the Commonwealth. During her reign she has visited all the Commonwealth countries, going on 'walkabouts' to gain direct contact with people from all walks of life throughout the world.

Behind and in front of the cameras, The Queen's work goes on, and no two days in The Queen's working life are ever the same.

Until the end of the 17th century, British monarchs were executive monarchs - that is, they had the right to make and pass legislation. Since the beginning of the eighteenth century, the monarch has become a constitutional monarch, which means that he or she is bound by rules and conventions and remains politically impartial.

On almost all matters he or she acts on the advice of ministers. While acting constitutionally, the Sovereign retains an important political role as Head of State, formally appointing prime ministers, approving certain legislation and bestowing honours.

The Queen also has important roles to play in other organisations, including the Armed Forces and the Church of England.

The Queen is not only Queen of the United Kingdom, but Head of the Commonwealth, a voluntary association of 53 independent countries.

Most of these countries have progressed from British rule to independent self-government, and the Commonwealth now serves to foster international co-operation and trade links between people all over the world.

In addition to the United Kingdom, The Queen is also Queen of a number of other Commonwealth realms, including Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

In Canada, she can remove PM, senators, MP, etc.. at will, if she want to.

From all the Cananda threads I have seen on here that may not be a bad idea.

The artist's name just reminded me of Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr played by Steve Martin in "The Man with Two Brains".

A bit of a stretch on the name 'Furr', I admit.

Just the queen?

I thought the whole world is Infidel.

It is, as the French are finding out. Despite all the cozying up they did with Islamic fascists.

Muslims do not respect weakness........only strength.

So MI5 isn't revealing the entire tape -- which might wake the Brits up to the monster in their midst -- but the Sunday Times has all 27 minutes of what's circulating among Muslims worldwide. The govt. can clamp down on revealing the entire tape, I think...sedition laws or something. But you'd think the public would have the right to know the full extent of the danger. This muzzling of the truth has to stop somewhere. Maybe someone will raise the issue in the House of Commons.

"Maybe someone will raise the issue in the House of Commons."

Tut tut, demonstrating a lack of understanding of the British political system here. If you want to bring something to the Government's attention, the last thing you do is raise the issue in the House of Commons. If Tony had his way he'd never even visit the place (I notice that during the debate on the anti-terrorism bill the other day, with the 90 day internment clause that he was so keen on, he never once deigned to actually enter the chamber). The accepted manner of bringing something to Tony's attention is to get it onto the front page of The Sun. Sunday Times is a reasonable start.

Total lack of understanding of the finer points of the British political system, true. Just wondering how many Muslim murdererous threats they'll put up with. It's certainly tricky with large Muslim enclaves, Birmingham, etc., but the current violence in France surely must be worrisome, the prince coming to the US and lecturing the President on how to get along with Islam after 9/11, and now this tape threatening the queen.

The real world in which the Islamite terrorists dwell, ceased to exist several millenniums ago.

Whoops! Just goes to show how much I keep up on the Royals. She may be "just " a Queen but she is STILL an infidel to the muzzies. That's not a bad club to belong to.

From article:

In Britain it has been posted by Muhammad al-Massari, the London-based Saudi extremist, on his website Tajdeed.

Think it is time for him to be based elsewhere!?!

You're half-right, it was post-blitz, but during the War- From the Encyclopedia Britannica--" In March 1945, in spite of some opposition from her family and the government, she was trained as a driver in the Auxiliary Territorial service."

The ceremonial nature of her role tends to obscure the fact that the Queen is a very disciplined and hard-working woman. We will miss her virtues when/ if her son succeeds her.
