The regulation of every aspect of our lives needs to cease. People need to take responsibility for their own actions.

I have food allergies and it would be nice to know where the food comes from and what is in it. I don't mind paying extra for food that I know I can trust. Why is it wrong to want the food vendors to label their product accurately and honestly?

I have no issue with vendors labeling their products. This is already done. What I have an issue with is when a petty bureaucrat turns it onto regulation, the cost of which is passed on to the consumer, such as the obtuse stickers on fruits which only tell you the number of the inspector.

If you know what you are allergic to, the best option is to avoid those products. I realize that you may come into contact with some products which contain precursors to the allergens which you are sensitive to, but that is an everyday hazard you must cope with. Your best bet is to keep the Benadryl/Epi pen handy.

OTOH, does it have anything to do with where the produce or meat originated? I think not. I have partaken of foods in every country in Europe (East and West), Central and South Asia, and the Philippines. I have eaten what the locals eat, without suffering any malady.
