Cheer up. You're getting way too negative. Elections have a lot to do with the current state of the economy. Right now we've had rising energy prices and rising interest rates over the last several months. At this time next year that will all have reversed: gasoline prices will be lower and the Fed will finish raising interest rates in a few months so mortgage rates will be lower. People don't like the recent economic trends, but those trends are all set up to reverse next year.

Iran is the one big wild card, however. If they make sudden progress in their nuclear weapons program then events may heat up rapidly over there and all economic bets are off. Let's hope that happens in the Spring or after the election or not at all.
