The thought is that no retired judge is truly impartial and that whomever is governor at the time will be able to pick the judges and thus pick the district lines.
Still, the final lines have to be approved by the voters, so if anything is too gerrymandered one would hope the voters would nuke it.
If I recall correctly, that's good news!
The minior notification is wining by very pedestrian margins in the today vote in hyper conservative Sierra counties. That is not a good sign. Pray for the Hispanics.
"Marin County with 79.4% of the cotes counted has voted NO on EVERY Prop."
That's not odd at all. It's the home of Nancy "Deer-in-the-Headlights" Pelosi and Diane "What's Roberts Like As a Husband And Father?" Feinstein. Marin County is so far off plumb it's amazing.
(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie.Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
The governor has nothing to do with redistricting according to the text of the proposition.

I agree completely. Who in God's name gives a rat's behind about San Fransicko?
Let those ass clowns ban everything - - go full Nazi. Who cares?
wHAT are those Cali Props? Which one is the abortion one?
O course not! All the pundits were saying yesterday all of Arnolds props. would not make it. Just like the 2004 election remember, the exit polls(don't bother voting Kerry has already won by a landslide.) LOL. I despise meathead and Warren Beatty and will be thrilled if the union thugs they pal around with go down in flames tonight! Go Arnold!
No, you are reading the statewide numbers.
Once Prop. 75 passes (which it appears to be doing), the unions will have MAJOR money problems (they spent a TON of money on this election). Can't collect? Too bad!
If I recall correctly, that's good news!
In a way Yes, Sanders is an R, FRye is a duhhh, but whoever is elected has a mess on his or her hands.
I looked at the map, it doesn't get overwhelming support anywhere. It actually leaves me speechless. Adios.
Probably doesn't mean anything, but you never know ...
I don't know why he would be for it unless Arnold was trying for a power grab by having a say on who gets on the panel. From the support 77 website states that the district lines are done by incumbents who are deeply entrenched into those districts. By having a panel do the redistricting, it would make the races more competitive. I believe it would make them more entrench than they are now!
73 is about the Right to Take Life....

It does seem to be working out that way. Look at Tulare, as compared to Modoc.
Kinda surprising in a way that it's not doing better in the red counties, because this seems like such a no-brainer.
