"The Other Iraq" is their marketing theme - it's the Iraq you don't hear about. The reason they chose that slogan is to break through the media's horrible reporting on Iraq as a war-torn country spiraling into despair.

The Kurds resent that. There are many different regions in Iraq that are peaceful and moving forward (including Southern Iraq). And the violence you hear about is limited to pockets in the country.

Thus, they want people to know there's an Iraq you don't hear about from CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, etc...

That's an excellent theme - and I heartily agree that there's an Iraq we hear nothing about. But as an honest reaction, I was a little confused by the references to Kurdistan and "the Other Iraq" at first, thinking maybe it was a different country. And I do try to stay somewhat in touch with activities in Iraq (which is why I'm a FReeper), so if I was confused, I'd have to say a lot of people who don't know anything will be, too. It's a great idea, though, to present another view of Iraq, and I totally approve. The "thank you" ad really touches the heartstrings. Excellent work by all involved.
