Wrong. How does that explain the Islamic conquest of Chalcedonian North Africa then? The Empire was militarily exhausted. Even with the help of the Copts, they would have been defeated by the Muslims. And as long as we're telling both sides of the story, the Monophysites did just as much persecuting as the Chalcedonians--if not more--when bishoprics or patriarchal sees fell under their control, or on the rare occasions when a Monophysite became emperor (see the reign of Anastasius).
