I don't live in Kali so all my info is a hazardous guess for legal and illegal items "there"........

I spose if the chance was that you'd disregard socialist "law" when up to your hips in trouble an AR Clone would be choice as ya can pick up regular mags off the streets or if ya move to a state with common sense gun laws, as if any really are, then the AR would be an OK choice. Rugged , reliable and if properly fed and cared for a heirloom for yer youngins......

Just an opinion as stated Kali firearms laws are mine fields that scare me.....

I'm not up on the latest California gun laws and would have to defer to Squantos' superior knowledge of firearms.

My best advise is to find a firearm that you are comfortable with and practice, practice, practice. Shot placement is much more important that caliber. No one ever died from a loud noise. You must be able to hit what you are shooting at.

Another thing to remember, targets don't shoot back. I've never been in a gunfight, but I once had to draw on another human being that presented a threat. A friend and myself were in the back country and outnumbered. Three pickup trucks rolled in on our campsite. Driver of the lead truck got out and acted aggressively. Upon seeing that we were armed and prepared to use lethal force the group backed off and left. Neither of us slept the rest of the night too worried that they night return.

The prospect of having to take a life is a VERY chilling and downright SCAREY experience. Violence happens fast and you won't have time to think if your unlucky enough to find yourself in such a situation.

My best advice is to choose a weapon you are comfortable with, get LOTS of training and PRATICE.
