Britain, Germany, Italy, and France all have socialized medicine, no guns, and outrageous tax rates to funds their welfare state, do we really want to save this? Do they want to increase their birthrates and save themselves?
Time will tell, But If push came to shove I'd rather see us save the 13 former Soviet Satellites that have adopted the flat tax and are thankful and remember what Ronald Reagan did for them ergo the Poland in particular.
Portugal, Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia all still remail. Cool, those are the European countries I actually like.
Oh, the Sunday shows will be full of Argentina riots and 'Bush's numbers falling through the cellar' (Wolf Blitzer on CNN yesterday, where Parisian riots didn't exist, only Argentina's molotov cocktails and thousands demonstrating their hatred of the US and Bush. No mention of communists and anti globalization sentiment. Well, they'll bash Bush all weekend while the real news is taking place in Europe. What could de Villepin say to blame Bush, but (keep it simple so even the dumb general public gets it)...if the US hadn't gone to war in Iraq, Muslims everywhere, esp. in France, would not have to take to the streets and burn cars.'
On NPR early this am, one of their rerun shows from the night before, a BBC reporterette was interviewing a man who advises presidents and govt. ministers, among others, about how to integrate various immigrant groups into society as smoothly as possible.
(They'd probably been talking about Paris riots and how to solve their immigration morass, but I tuned in late, didn't catch anyone's name.) The reporter kept putting words in the man's mouth: 'but the govt. has to do it, make programs, order this or that done....and he said, 'NO! The govt. can do only so much. The bulk has to be done by ordinary people every day. It's all in how you deal with others -- with grace, kindness, and equanimity.'
I paraphrase, but that was the sense of it and I had to agree with him, and since this was NPR and 5:30 AM, you can imagine how hard it was! Frankly, this is why legal immigration works in the US no matter what you look like or how broken your English is...just learn it, please! -- or the color of your skin. We accept others as Americans if they come here legally and work hard. But if they arrive thinking of themselves as Muslims first and Americans second or not at all, and with a definite Islamic agenda, then they end up dead or in jail.
They would rather live their life of decadence than have anything to do with self protection, the military, or fighting in general. Party on! You deserve what you get when living a life like that - what was the last war France won on its own?
Charles Worrell, who wound up on the Georgia Supreme Court back in the sixties, was a Texas Ranger before he became a judge. He looked perfectly capable of quelling a riot all by himself -- big fellow with no neck and steely gray eyes. He was known as "Two Gun Charlie Worrell" because he presided with two loaded .44 Bulldog revolvers and used one as a gavel (I hope he kept an empty chamber under the hammer!)
He used to go dove hunting with my daddy. I was a little girl, and I was terrified of him.
On the other hand, if the cops had shot and killed rioters from the start, wouldn't that have galvanized outside Muslim agitators/terrorists to come in and throw bombs, etc.? Just a thought -- at some point they'll come anyway. Al Jazeera and the Arab 'street' would have erupted in Syria, Iran, etc.. and with the ease of travel in the EU, outside 'insurgent/freedom fighters' might be hard to spot until too late.
What the result of this will be a very right wing unified Europe. The islamist will be driven back to herding goats and loose everything they ever had. What you will see emerge from all of this is an isolated US, a unified right wing Europe, and China. I have no idea which way England and Russia will go. Then we will compete for things.
Ah... me for one.

The problem with the French Underground was a lot of them were communist. I know some Germans that were in Paris in the army. They told me that the nationalist would turn the communist into them and the communist would turn in the nationalist. The underground fought among themselves more than they did the Germans.
I have read before that one of the reasons Partain conspired with the Germans is because he felt that was the only way he could save France from the communist.

Exactly, and now these Parisian rioters are called 'impoverished North African immigrants youths'. The PC mindset is hard, like juggling plates.
What is it about the French...they look so...French. Is it the hair? What?

The riots are caused by Islam, to deny it is putting your head in the sand... Hope my analysis will explain to you what has been happening in France and Europe for the last 30 years....

What is happening is years of Islamists taking over the Outskirts of every French city.
For decades Arabs in the Cites have made sure WHITE,NON_MUSLIMS were removed from those areas....
1....Rapes of young girls.
2....Physical and verbal attacks on WHITE,NON_MUSLIM elderlies.
3....Arson on Bars and NOn_ALLAL shops.
4....Attacks on the Police,Firemen and anyone with authority.
5....Refusal by many to go to school.
6....Physical attacks in Colleges on teachers who mention the Holocaust or anything favorable to Jews.
7....Drugs and Guns, being sold openly on the streets.
8....Muslim Clerics preaching their hatred of the West.
The list goes on.
France is suffering from years of appeasing Islam and as the riots continue, France is still not daring to say ISLAMIC TERROR.
The death of those 2 Muslim Youths was the excuse needed for the start of the riots....those riots have been organised for many years, even though the FRENCH press is trying to deny it.
The islamic riots in FRANCE AND Danmark are going to spread like a cancer....with the blessing of the Socialists and so called Moderate Conservative governmemt in Europe.
It is well known that many European Law makers in EUROPE have been corrupted by Islamic despots.
As for the main culprit CHIRAC, I feel reading FREE_REPUBLIC you are well aware of his corruption and his anti_American and anti-Israeli views, (Views shared by the goverment of Sweden, Germany (under SCHOEDER), Belgium, Spain,Norway and many more) he is getting his just reward. That man SOLD France to the Islamists by supporting the PALESTINIANS,in the hope the Muslims in his country would be quiet. DID NOT WORK.
Here in Europe we are seeing the start of an Intifada,it is worrying but not surprising.
