It seems as though the only strategy the French government has is to wait until the rioters stop.

Chirac and Villepin are their toughest, I suppose, with their mistresses (and graft couriers). No time, really, for rioters.

The French have been letting car burnings go on for some years now.

I think we have a case of the proverbial "frog in a pot of water that is being slowly raised to the boiling point."

Chirac in 1998

French President Jacques Chirac, in his annual New Year message, denounced, denounced growing violence in France and urged people to help the police control the problem. He said: "There is too much violence in our country, too much insecurity - in the schools, on public transport. Every day new limits are broken beyond which our society will disintegrate."

Did you catch the South Park spoof of Katrina? They mocked the media's coverage big time.

Nice post. The French really do have the capacity to stop this whole thing dead in its tracks, but they're horribly handicapped by their adherence to outdated policies and a press that would rather see the riots become socially successful. I'm really rooting for your average Frenchman in this battle, as I think most here are once they stop and think about the consequences of the further Islamization of France.

I'll be in Paris next week, and if I can find the time and a brave cab driver, I might try and get to the edges of one of these areas during the daytime. I doubt I'll get to do it though. The best I'll probably do will be a few pictures of the RER line from the airport.

"You can't conduct a War on Terrorism with the hopes of spreading democracy to the middle east and Afghanistan if you hate and despise all Muslims and Arabs"

You can if the solution includes the elimination of all radical arabs so that peaceful people can retake the middle east. The problem is that the term "radical arabs" seems to include the whole darn bunch!

They can do what has been done in Neuhof, near Strasbourg...make the car-burnings an annual event.

Thats reassuring but when did 900 cars get torched within 10 days in Oakland?

But they are very small cars, so maybe they are hard to notice.

I'm of French ancestry myself, and I've always been ashamed of the frogs.

There is no quandary. There is no problem in France. They have no problem with their immigrants, just like here in the good old USA.

They have a problem with self immolating cars in France, not muslims. You know, they are just harmless legal immigrants who came for a better life, Dane.

And Mary has a hard time telling the truth. Bleu staters having a hard time finding workers, I just cannot imagine that.

Is the CRS emasculated or won't Chirac let them loose ?

There's no question that they're being held back. Despite the ribbing that the French take from our corner, when they want to crack skulls, they most certainly can.

As a matter of fact, that is one of the things that I find so distressing. The French domestic intelligence guys are top notch, and even with all of their hard work this is still occurring. One wonders how bad it would be if there weren't some guys operating behind the scenes.

No, I am not angry, but the french are beyond defending on this, and I have been sick and tired of the holier than thou attitudes coming from them for MANY years. It can't be said more plainly than has been said on this thread by many people. Americans are sick and tired of the decades of snobbery and arrogance of the frensh people. They were told for YEARS what they were doing with the muslims like this was a BAD idea and they basically told the critics to "piss off". Well fine then. I say france can "piss off". They've been nothing but against U.S. policy on all important issues and I see NO REASON that the U.S. should waste anytime on france at all. They haven't earned it, they don't deserve it, and they certainly haven't been respectful enough of Americans, Christians, or Jews to at all receive it.

And as I said before, which you didn't have an answer to, if the french people are so nice and like Americans so much, as you claim, why do their leaders keep getting more and more socialistic, and prefer to deal with and defend America's enemies than siding with America? Why has there not been an uprising of the so called "pro-American / Pro-western" french people against those socialistic leaders?

Also, I wonder how nice those french you mention would be to you if approached them as a Christian or a Jew. Becuase the french policies towards Christians and Jews are among the most radical in Euope, but they give free reign to muslims. So pardon me if I don't care about the french you say are so nice to you, because even if they aren't supporting the anti-Semitic / anti-Christian / anti-American policies put into practice by their government, they're allowing them, which makes them complicit at the very least.

Do take care if you at all get near these areas. From what I've read elsewhere these are essentially "no-go" zones on the best of days for outsiders.

Oh, and you only call my post a rant because you disagree with it. Nice try though. It would have more credibility if you could actually point out something I said that was factually incorrect. Because you can't do that, well. That kinda speaks for itself. 8)

"But their map has half of China colored green."

The western part of China is Muslim/Turkish in terms of population. Though the Chicoms have been fairly active in pushing in Chinese settlers to change that balance.

"No problem there. I still have wondered if we used the samllest tactical nuclear warhead we have, and dropped it squarely on Medina, with a message following that if there is anymore islamst terrorism ANYWHERE, ONE SINGLE CAR BOMB, ONE SINGLE ROAD SIDE BOMB, ANYWHERE, mecca is next, and then other muslim holy places down the list, if that would get the point across. It's not like they respect other holy places. They attack Churches, they attack Synagogues. They attack their own mosques. But, we can't just use nukes first. It would make us as bad as them. Still, I wonder. And I am VERY glad that Bush made it clear that if a nuclear device is ever used in the United States, we WOULD retaliate in kind. THAT is the right way to go. Let them know that if they want to play with the big boys, with big boy toys, we have more, and we've known how to use them longer. And maybe we're bluffing, but just maybe we're NOT. THAT is how you deal with sub-human garbage like these muslims. It's not the ability to totally and completely kick their a***s that is paramount. It is almost as equally as important that they KNOW you can totally and completely kick their a***s if you so coose. Both are VERY important. The ability, AND the willingness to do so. Both are critically necessary."

You are too soft. I prefer harsher reprimands.

It would be a shame if something large and heavy fell from the sky and leveled that mosque.

I wonder if they're going to buy more foreign cars to replace the ones the muslims destroyed, or just import a few thousand camels from the middle east.
