"Exactly the reason we're homeschooling."

Thank you for making that choice for your children and our future. Homeschoolers are my heroes.

"Seriously, does this woman think she has a right to teach in a Catholic school? I wonder where they're going to find that one in the Constitution?"

Does she think so? Most probably. The question is whether the loony tunes in the California judiciary will find that she has such a right. And keep in mind that this lawsuit will be under California law, not Federal law.

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but any thoughts as to whether or not this was a deliberate action on Bain's part?

I don't think so. Loretta is actually a small school. That a family from the school happened to be recognize her from a prior clinic protest was more a coincidence than anything else.

One of the more revealing aspects of all this has been listening to the cutey-pie little moral relativists who have been indignantly calling in to talk radio here in Sacramento the past week or so. It makes you wonder just what they are teaching them there.

There's a lot of Catholic high schools around that do that, basically because good Catholics aren't going into teaching. Good Catholic teachers just aren't always available.

Better to close the schools down, then.

Which leads to a couple of questions: (1) why was she hired if it was known that her personal beliefs were in stark conflict with Catholic teachings? (2) was she hired specifically because of those beliefs?

It's one thing to have your own beliefs. There are plenty of Catholics that are skeptical of the Church's teachings on birth control. It's quite another to transform those beliefs into action (ie. actively teaching/advocating your beliefs or acting in direct violation of Church teachings re Planned Parenthood volunteering).

re: why she was hired

As in secular politics...quite a number of Catholic institutions have a goofy liberal "diversity" policy. They make an attempt to recruit and hire non-Catholics to try to prove how "with it" and trendy they are. If there are wacky liberal nuns and other liberal Catholic "Kumbaya" type teachers on board those kinds of schools tend to turn off sincere Catholics who want good teaching jobs at institutions that take Catholic culture and teachings seriously. Just look for any "Kerry for President" bumper stickers in the parking lot.

Thanks, Howling. I referenced (swiped) your 'act of charity' comment in your previous post, but gave you a hat tip in the toon.
Here's hoping you'll accept fame in lieu of fortune.
