The late popular (particularly among the poor) Huey Pierce Long, Jr., D-LA, answered that questions in the early 1930's. The self-proclaimed "Kingfish" (himself a very wealthy man) said that the day would could in which the American people would also embrace fascism, as had Italy, Germany, and other countries. But in the USA, the Kingfish said the Americans would call their system "anti-fascism."

Long is saying something similar to what Lenin said - that America would accept socialism if it's called something else. They're both being proved right. When fascism comes it might be called anti-fascism, but might equally well be called "emergency". "loyalty to our leaders", "defending freedom", etc. Anything that sounds good, just as long as it isn't called what it is. We could go as fascist as Der Fuhrer and most people wouldn't see it - as long as we don't call it that.
