Family members are investigating what they consider to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a nursing home patient at the center of a life and death tug-of-war reminiscent of the Terri Schiavo tragedy.
Seventy-nine-year-old Jimmy Chambers died in the early morning hours of Oct. 24 after the tracheotomy tubes that deliver oxygen from a ventilator to a hole in his neck became unhooked. Family members were told Chambers, a resident of the Anne Maria Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in North Augusta, S.C., apparently pulled the interlocking tubes apart.
"We're having it investigated. We're just incredulous," Chambers' daughter, Deanna Potter, told WND in reference to her siblings. "The last time I saw dad he was blowing me a kiss. I blew him one and he blew one back."
The retired dispatcher for Holland Motor Express died approximately 10 hours later. His death certificate indicates he died of "natural causes."
"Apparently, suffocation is a 'natural cause' when you're on a ventilator. We're contesting that," said Potter. "He suffocated. He didn't just pass away. He struggled and fought. And I'm just so angry."
Potter estimates it would have taken 10 to 14 minutes for her father, deprived of oxygen, to fall unconscious, and questions why the nursing home staff didn't come to his aid.
"The oxygen-saturation meter and his ventilator both would have had alarms going off. Four-thirty, five o'clock in the morning you'd think someone would hear this," she added. "That's the thing that really bothers me and makes me suspicious."

Well I think that they wanted to be sure that PRAYER was active for all current and future events. There's nothing wrong with that. The dear woman had broken bones and due to those injuries it was already evident that PT would be needed.
They got ok on the PT on Mon, only the 23rd day after her accident.
From Scott Thomas' web site about what was taking place in today's hearing: Next Tuesday, January 3rd at 9:00 a.m., the guardianship case will again be brought before Judge Wilkes. He ruled in July to continue temporary plenary guardianship in favor of Pamela because of the open investigation into whether Eliza caused Scott's injury. As the investigation has been terminated due to lack of sufficient evidence (only she, Scott and the baby were home at the time and Eliza refused to take a polygraph test.), Eliza is now asking the judge to give her what her attorneys are calling "co-guardianship".
According to her attorneys, she is asking for the power to make all the decisions for Scott, medical, financial, etc., while stating that she will continue to have Pamela care for Scott "for the time being." We believe that this is her way of obtaining complete guardianship, as she would then have the legal ability to remove him from Pamela's home and discontinue care for him. She also is asking to be given 100% decision-making ability for their son, effectively cutting Scott out of his son's life forever.
FV SAYS: PAM is Scott's mother and ELIZA is the wife who Scott said hit him over the head. Eliza's attorney I believe is tossing Pam a bone by allowing Scott to stay at Pam's home for the time being. That doesn't mean she won't continue to try to Schiavo him while mom Pam has him in her home.
Florida's the wrong place for a gay governor.
Not gay bashing but not a gay governor... hasn't Florida been through enough already?
But no update on today's hearing.
Tough about the miners, hope they are ok.

Euthanasia is ILLEGAL in the United States but our government doesn't seem to know. This isn't the way to fix medicare or medicaid. It really isn't. Kill foreign aid and save Americans instead.

If euthanasia is illegal in the U.S. can someone please explain to me
how the Denver Post can get away with cutting a deal with Dylan's
parents that they would chronicle Dylan's 24 day long starvation
murder and keep it quiet until Dylan died?
Pamela's guardianship renewed for another six months! Please see "Scott's News" for more information.

January 3, 2006 Today was the long-anticipated status hearing on guardianship for Scott. The hearing took place in judge's chambers with Pamela and her attorneys and Eliza and her attorneys.Pamela presented the judge with information that she has now filed with the court to have Scott declared "partially capacitated". This means, at the very least, that he would then be allowed to indicate his preferences for his social environment, such as who is allowed to visit. He has repeatedly indicated that he does not want to see Eliza, but he does wants to see his son.
Pamela also informed the judge that, after Scott is legally determined to be "partially capacitated", they would be filing for a divorce for him. Eliza indicated to the judge that she would fight any divorce proceedings. The final item that Pamela presented to the judge is that Scott is scheduled for surgery to close his tracheotomy opening, which should allow him to regain his ability to speak and make sound.
Based on all the above information, Judge Wilkes ruled to grant Pamela another six months of full guardianship of Scott.
This will be a crucial time for Pamela and Scott, as they continue to work, not only for Scott's recovery, but for him to regain the right and ability to truly "speak for himself". Please continue to join us in prayer and other support for Scott and Pamela as they continue the battle for LIFE.
good news on scott!

I'm in process of posting this to its own thread as continuation of Terri's daily threads -- search shows not yet posted.
You scooped it!
Thanks so much for the ping! I've been praying all day, and at least some are being answered positively! Please ping me to the new thread.
Is there life insurance awaiting the "wife" on Scott's death? Otherwise, I doubt that she would bother to interfere with the mother doing her matronly duties here???
Pamela's guardianship renewed for another six months!
THANK YOU, CYN for reporting the good news.
THANK YOU, PAM!
THANK YOU, SCOTT - keep fighting.
