News is something people need to know which someone, somewhere, doesn't want them to know. All the rest is advertising.Interesting take on what constitutes news. The underlying assumption is that the media knows what is true and knows the motives of all involved. VERY egotistical.

True.
Before I had cable (20 years, 1980's and 1990's), I'd watch the nightly news. Some broadcasts were at 5, some 5:30, some 6. So, I usually could catch at least 2 of the 3 networks.
I noticed a very strong resemblance. No only were the major stories almost the same, just broadcast in a different order. But some stories were almost word-for-word the same, and they were more like infomercials than news items.
