New Abercrombie T-Shirts Spark Controversy

Abercrombie & Fitch is under fire again, this time for selling T-shirts that are causing some controversy, reported WEWS-TV in Cleveland.

The Columbus-based retailer is selling shirts marketed to teenage girls bearing slogans such as "Give me something to scream about," "I had a nightmare I was a brunette," and "I'd look great on you."

Some teens say that they don't see the shirts as a big deal, and they shouldn't be taken seriously.

Others say the shirts may be inappropriate for wearing to some places, such as school, and that wearing one may be sending a negative message about yourself.

Psychologist Deborah Plummer said the shirts can be mentally detrimental for teen girls, many of whom already struggle with self-image issues.

A group of girls in Pittsburgh is so upset by the T-shirts that they have decided to boycott the store completely.

Abercrombie & Fitch said in a statement the T-shirts have been very popular among adult women to whom they are marketed.

This is not the first time Abercrombie & Fitch has come under fire.

Two years ago, the retailer sparked controversy after its release of a "magalog" containing photos of nude and partially-clothed models.

The publication was pulled from the shelves.

And in 2004, Abercrombie & Fitch settled a lawsuit accusing the retailer of promoting whites at the expense of minorities.

Asian and Hispanic groups filed the lawsuit.

Ahhhhhhhh...here we go again. The company that marketed "thongs" to twelve year olds never fails to go dumpster diving for ideas.

It's time for the yearly A & F "controversy." Just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

Not to be a butt, but I fail to see what political orientation has to do with this... Plenty of young immoral republican chicks out there as well.

In fact, I would venture a guess and say most young women (who would wear such trash) are apolitcal and dont vote.

Last week, I saw a young teenager with a pair of tight sweat paints with "booty-lishus" stamped on the rear. I could hardly control my nausea.

I think we should start ignoring A&F because this is just what they are looking for, publicity. They know they can sell more stuff if they can get some free publicity.

"Give me something to scream about," "I had a nightmare I was a brunette," and "I'd look great on you."

Really? Is that it?

If you want offensive t-shirts, try T-Shirt Hell. These are offensive, and most of them are damn funny.

That is a pet peeve of mine. Lit. on young (or any age) females behind. They should just go ahead and put the price there instead.

If AF wanted real controversy they'd sell "Abortion is Genocide" tee shirts.

Abercrappie sells to teens mostly, just look who's in the stores.
Their slutty clothes are just more expensive than other places.
Only fools shop at a place that sells cheap thin blank white T's for $25. The garments are crap, just like the cheap garbage made by American Apparel in L.A. (who likes to brag about minority/women's rights while using topless models at trade shows).

wearing one may be sending a negative message about yourself.

Is that why people look at me funny when I wear my "I'm A Stupid Whore" T shirt?

(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,

 it was probably sarcasm)

Two bits.

I consider myself a randy kind of guy, but some of the things I have seen lately are disgusting.

I can't stand their stores or their clothes. The stores blare that annoying music and I don't think their clothes look that good. Give me Express and Banana Republic anyday.

And the parents either are buying this crap for their kids or letting them buy it themselves.

Why, the parents are just trying to be cool, right?
