Now .. that is the height of something or other - Reid is mad because Bush didn't choose Reid's selections .. these people are in LA LA LAND.

The first lady has no business commenting on public policy. It was inappropriate when Hillary did it and it is when Laura does it to. Would shareholders really think that the CEO's wife should be setting policy?
The first lady is in a unique situation where her words have political consequences to her husband's base. If she wants to be act like a private citizen and act like an activist then she can give up her perks and really be just like everyone else.
Rush just said Lindsey Graham told the gang of 14 not to mess with this pick. Expect to see more RINOs get with the program...hehehe.

The conservative pressure this time may be too much for these mushy guys after they weigh the pros and cons. There weak spines bend in two ways.

The first lady has every right to speak. Sorry, Charlie. What crosses the line is when she's put IN CHARGE of policy like Hillary was.
I applaud Laura every time she speaks out in support of the War on Terror. If you think she doesn't have that right, you have a problem with women.
I'm not predicting he would. But with Bush's spinal infusion, Scalia would see several like-minded justices on the court (Roberts, Alito, Thomas, and his own replacement). He's in his late 60s, and his "battle has been won." Why risk having to step down during a Democratic presidency?
Of course, he could stick around and enjoy the fruits of his labors, too.
I could also see Kennedy stepping down. He's too liberal for our liking, but I'm sure he's not so liberal as to want a Democrat to replace him. He did concurr with the 5-person authoritative decision in Bush v. Gore. He's certainly physically up to the task, but he is several years past Social Security retirement age.
If Kennedy stpped down, and was replaced by a solid conservative, it would also do much to dispirit Ginsberg and Stevens who seem to fighting for dear life to survive until a Democrat comes along, so they can preserve Roe.
The only one of last term's judges who was not several years past retirement age was Clarence Thomas.
No matter how you slice it, Specter is the biggie.

Yep. I think it's going to be hard for the Democrats to stop this pick, since Specter seems to be on board.
That's good news. Kudos to Rush for his role in all this. This confirmation drama will be gone and forgotten in a few months, but we'll live with the justice for decades.
Snail Mail Is the best way get your congress persons to set up and take notice. So what you do is write a letter (can be computer written) sign it then FAX it to the congress persons and then mail it. Also go in person to the local office and present a copy of the letter.
