Prince Charles to plead Islam's cause to Bush
Telegraph ^ | October 29, 2005 | Andrew Alderson

Posted on 10/29/2005 3:32:33 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative

The Prince of Wales will try to persuade George W Bush and Americans of the merits of Islam this week because he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11.

The Prince, who leaves on Tuesday for an eight-day tour of the US, has voiced private concerns over America's "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to appreciate Islam's strengths.

The Prince raised his concerns when he met senior Muslims in London in November 2001. The gathering took place just two months after the attacks on New York and Washington. "I find the language and rhetoric coming from America too confrontational," the Prince said, according to one leader at the meeting.

It is understood that Prince Charles did not - and does not - believe that the actions of 19 hijackers should tarnish the reputation of hundreds of millions of law-abiding Muslims around the world.

Khalid Mahmood, the Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Bar, was also at the meeting at St James's Palace. "His criticism of America was a general one of the Americans not having the appreciation we have for Islam and its culture," he said.

Mr Mahmood and other Muslims present stressed that Prince Charles did not go so far as to criticise the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001. More recently, he has been careful not to express his views on Iraq.

The Prince also spoke of his sympathy for America after the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of almost 3,000 people. He said he wanted to promote better relations between the different religions of the world.

Prince Charles is the best example available to those who insist the English Monarchy should be abolished...

I thought the rumor was that Prince Philip and MI-5 or some such organization had Diana killed to keep her from marrying a mulim! Now you're telling me she was already married to one?!?! LOL

Revenge for Mrs. Wallas Simpson, perhaps?

Now if you could just do something to keep him in England where he belongs?

It's actually a relief for us when he goes on tour. I suppose we should encourage him to go somewhere like Pakistan, if he wants to get along with the Muslims better.

Regards, Ivan

Our country knows 3000 people who would have thought the followers of islam are just a tad too confrontational.

You are a real prince, fella, now go crawl back into that warm and moist place where you want to live and STFU.

Revenge for Mrs. Wallas Simpson, perhaps?

Recent documents have revealed that the FBI told our intelligence services that Mrs. Simpson had Von Ribbentrop as one of her lovers. The British Establishment stood up to protect the country in barring her and Edward from the throne.

I guess Prince Charles can't relate to his subjects, who are the ones dying in Iraq and on the subways (I assume he doesn't take public transportation.) The British should get rid of the Royal Family system altogether and let them try and earn a living like everyone else. I can't believe this idiot doesn't understand British history well enough to remember the previous relationship with the Mohammedans...not pretty.

Ivan,
Chuck wore out his welcome with such foolish talk. His visit is not going to build any goodwill. Hopefully he and his harlot will decide that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is much more to his liking. For the life of me I can not figure out why Chuckie would open his mouth and remove all doubt regarding his short sighted contempt for our great United States of America.

I may be being a touch too harsh on Mrs. Parker Bowles (I am not calling her the Duchess of Cornwall). After all, the woman who obviously inspired the "Frau Blucher" gag from "Young Frankenstein" can't be all bad.

Well perhaps it's the British Establishment defending us once again. You see, if he irritates enough nations, then it strengthens the case for skipping him in the line of succession straight to Wills.

God Save King William V!

LOL Thank you Mad Ivan for your words of reassurance. Now if you could just do something to keep him in England where he belongs? LOL

C'mon, kalee, be fair about it! They've taken Madonna off of our hands (permanently, I hope) -- the least we can do is humor Chucky for a few days.

Prince Charles has done more than any other member of the Royal Family in history to understand Islam. He said in 1994 that when he became Supreme Governor of the Church of England, he would rather be "defender of faiths" than "defender of the faith".

Hmmm. That's really odd. Can they fire him as Supreme Governor?

Probably it will only be until Guy Ritchie discovers that Madonna has thoroughly ruined his filmmaking career.

I don't know if they are joking or not. But listen up, Princey Boy, some Muslim terrorists murdered 3,000 innocent souls on American soil on 9/11. And the same gang murdered some innocent people on a bus in your own country. Please don't come to America preaching about the goodness of Muslims to Americans. We remember 9/11 too vividly! The only joke is Prince Charles - I hope Americans boo him right back to England.

After all, the woman who obviously inspired the "Frau Blucher" gag from "Young Frankenstein" can't be all bad.

But isn't she a Senator from New York right now?

Seriously, it is my understanding that Prince Charles' actions are illustrative of an infatuation with a mythical romantic image of Arab culture as depicted in the movie "Lawrence of Arabia". This romantic idealized mythology is very widespread throughout what we refer to as the English upper-class.
