Prince Charles to plead Islam's cause to Bush
Telegraph ^ | October 29, 2005 | Andrew Alderson

Posted on 10/29/2005 3:32:33 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative

The Prince of Wales will try to persuade George W Bush and Americans of the merits of Islam this week because he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11.

The Prince, who leaves on Tuesday for an eight-day tour of the US, has voiced private concerns over America's "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to appreciate Islam's strengths.

The Prince raised his concerns when he met senior Muslims in London in November 2001. The gathering took place just two months after the attacks on New York and Washington. "I find the language and rhetoric coming from America too confrontational," the Prince said, according to one leader at the meeting.

It is understood that Prince Charles did not - and does not - believe that the actions of 19 hijackers should tarnish the reputation of hundreds of millions of law-abiding Muslims around the world.

Khalid Mahmood, the Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Bar, was also at the meeting at St James's Palace. "His criticism of America was a general one of the Americans not having the appreciation we have for Islam and its culture," he said.

Mr Mahmood and other Muslims present stressed that Prince Charles did not go so far as to criticise the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001. More recently, he has been careful not to express his views on Iraq.

The Prince also spoke of his sympathy for America after the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of almost 3,000 people. He said he wanted to promote better relations between the different religions of the world.

You may be under the impression that just because Charles is Her Majesty's son, that he may be a person of some importance in the United Kingdom. Please let me disabuse you of that notion. Anyone who would state that they would enjoy going through life being Camilla Parker Bowles' tampon is not worthy of serious consideration. As such, we don't take him seriously and nor should you. Rather, please regard him as you would an eccentric relative who has a plan to build a perpetual motion machine or believes the CIA is using microwaves to read his mind. Thank you for your kind attention. Yours sincerely, Ivan

LMAO, thanks Ivan. I used to follow the Royals right around the time when Princess Diana died and remember there was a movement to skip Charles and go straight to Wills. And camilla was not about to win any popularity contests either.

In theory, she should state a preferred family member to have the throne.

I don't think this type of will has been seen since George II.

We'll think of him as weird Uncle Chuck in the basement that no one talks about, as it were.

Is he going to tour the Moslem world and try to get them to be more tolerant of Christianity?

"...he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11."

Somehow I doubt that most Britons think that causing free elections in Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Iraq is "too intolerant."

This poor fool is living in a world that doesn't exist. I am unwilling to read past the first sentence. I thought he had more intelligence. In light of 1) How remarkable tolerant our president has been toward Islam..how many times he's gone OUT OF HIS way to mention "religion of peace". and 2) HIS OWN COUNTRYMEN were blasted by these madmen this summer.

The Prince of Wales apparently is following in foot prints of his uncle. Just because he is a prince and may someday be a king does not mean he has intelligence.

Yeah, like I give a flyin' rip what this pampered, do-nothing royal thinks. And Britain's "tolerance" of the muzzies got them a snoot-full of explosions on the tube systems just a while back. Not really much to understand there, huh Charles?

This fool wouldn't be any more able to take care of himself than the welfare-dependent blacks in NOLA were. I bet he doesn't even dress himself without his steward right there to assist him. Why in the SAM HELL does he think I should listen to the likes of him.

Besides, I never listen to a man who's secret desire is to be a tampon.

Pffft!

I read somewhere that when Robert Graves met Queen Elizabeth, he told her that they had something in common--they were both descended from the Prophet Muhammad. If that's true, Prince Charles would just be favoring a religion started by his ancestor.

Judging by the posts I see here, Prince Charle will get soundly rebuffed when he comes here. I hate to rain on the parade, but don't forget all our leftys and the MSM. They'll probably give him rave reviews for coming here to lecture us. If it is against Bush, they'll jump on the bandwagon. Anything to take Bush down.

What garbage is this? They are using quotes from an interview that took place over four years ago?

'The Prince raised his concerns when he met senior Muslims in London in November 2001. The gathering took place just two months after the attacks on New York and Washington. "I find the language and rhetoric coming from America too confrontational," the Prince said, according to one leader at the meeting.'
