Russert just appeared on NBC. HE IS DENYING THE FACTS AS PRESENTED IN THE INDICTMENT. He says he testified under oath that he did not receive any information from Libby about Plame as the inictment alleges. Now this is getting interesting.

Not quite correct. It is a necessary element of the crime of perjury that the testimony be material to the subject of the investigation. This of course requires that there be a subject of the investigation.

I think you are right on Target. They are using this to Open the Door to Indict Clinton.
Why else would this be allowed to happen?
To: The Ghost of FReepers Past
It is actually a crime to obstruct justice, to perjure yourself, etc.
True, we insisted as much during the Clinton Administration, so we need to remain consistent.

So, there was no crime of "outing" after all, so they drug as many people in and questioned them about conversations they had three years ago in order to get these trumped up charges. It's the same thing the democrat prosecutor is doing to Delay in Texas. The charges against him are bait to fish for another crime - if they can find one (or create one).

The libs want Cheney, period. My question to them is this: do you REALLY want Condi Rice as Vice President?

Libby "lying" hasn't been proved Clinton definitively lied.

To really get rid of data on a hard drive, you have to destroy the hard drive's storage disk.Nah, you just have to write over the area that was used. Copy all your biggest files and save with new names. Then defrag, and the odds are you have overwritten the area, tho' not guaranteed.

LOL I'm sick of Katrina too. We've had how many hurricanes since Katrina?

But, but -- they didn't affect America's "disenfranchised."
Pffffffttt.

If that's true, then I expect Libby's lawyers to get a court to throw out the indictments on the ground Fitzgerald misrepresented the essence of Russert's testimony to the GJ. So then it comes down to two different recollections of events. That's not a crime much less than perjury. It seems to me the prosecutor's case looks week. There's not even an underlying crime here.

I am reading the indictment and it seems to me that there timeline alludes to the fact it was the CIA leaking to the media, I wonder if there is some hidden indictments of spooks?

The average American still can't figure out what this was all about, and this won't help matters. This ain't no Watergate or Monica Lewinsky scandal, it's a snore-fest.I agree. Meanwhile, under the covers, the CIA, media, and Democrat attack machine needs to be mightily counteracted.
But we should admit it is bad for a high-ranking Administration official to be credibly accused of these crimes regardless of the non-crime of Plame's outing. Fitzgerald perhaps could have chosen not to prosecute, but he didn't. I'm not prepared to impugn his integrity. I think he is pretty much in the mold of Starr and Ray. He saw something done wrong and pursued it.
To: fooman
clinton lied and did not get 30 year like they are talking now.People need to be reminded of that by our side. The democrats have to be shown a mirror.
To: The Ghost of FReepers Past
You might be right, but we don't know either way right now. If he is guilty then this is appropriate. The point is, a high-profile prosecutor spent 24 months discovering that Libby couldn't get his stories straight about a non-crime.
Pathetic.
