I was always curious as to why Sulu was the only crew member upon whom Spock refused to perform a Vulcan mind meld.
It also explains why Kirk was the only crew member permitted to refer to the Doctor as, "Bones"; following that unfortunate misunderstanding with Sulu that occurred on Rigel IV.
