That's exactly what I believe happened. Things were moving so fast and among so many different sources and outlets, nobody will be able to pin it down exactly.
All we know for sure beyond any doubt, is that the only person indicted didn't out Plame.

He's opened the door now for so much information to be brought out that wouldn't have, otherwise. Fitzy made the mistake of letting his yapper run on autopilot for an hour. There is piles of evidence of just what he intends to do with this investigation out in the open now. It's like the quarterback yelling from the huddle what play he wants to run next.
