Toddler's Creed
Read:
|
Elisa Morgan, president of MOPS International (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers), shared this insight into a child's view of the world:
Toddler's Creed If I want it, it's mine. If I give it to you and change my mind later, it's mine. If I can take it away from you, it's mine. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine. If it's mine, it will never belong to anyone else, no matter what. If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine. If it looks just like mine, it is mine. |
Anyone who has ever known a toddler knows the truth of that creed. We expect to see this trait in toddlers, but we despise it when it's seen in adults. It's called covetousness.
The apostle Paul, who had led an outwardly religious life before he became a follower of Jesus, wrestled with that sin (Romans 7:7). After carefully studying the law of Moses, he recognized covetousness for what it is. But God in His grace changed Paul. Instead of remaining a coveting, grasping man, he became a truly generous person (Acts 20:33-35). And generosity may be the acid test of whether or not we are still spiritual toddlers.
Are you allowing the Lord Jesus Christ to create in you a new, giving heart? Or are you still following the "Toddler's Creed"? Haddon Robinson
"Ooooh, goody, dutchess! A Pet Thread!!
Yes - it's really me, Binky Boy.
God made me special, and sent me to live with my Mom, LadyX..:)"
"Actually, she sent me to The Finest to test the waters, absent for 2 days, and hoped if I eased in her apology, you perhaps would accept it."
"Fact is, she had a few trying days, out of town for one of them, and was waiting to hear from my Uncle Steve and Uncle Kevin.
As you know, the eye of Hurricane Wilma passed over Uncle K's house in Florida with 113 mph winds, and the top of it in excess of 100 mph pounded Uncle Steve."
"God sent miracles to both of them, Uncle Kevin's power back on today (although he had a generator and was able to cope) and the *only* damage was to the screening on his back porch. Close by neighbors had their whole porches demolished!"
"The eye of the hurricane and breaks between bands gave intervals of relief for Uncle Kevin, but poor Uncle Steve 50 miles above him fared worse."
"Their intense winds and side-driven rains went on and on without ceasing until it skirted out to sea.
Considerable damage was done to his new house, but his power came back on quickly in his northwest of the city residential area."
"Permission for Mom to safely enter??"

Hi, all. Great thread, dutchess. I just love pet thread days.
I've been away even longer than I expected as my computer crashed and burned...literally. I should say it crashed *because* it burned out its circuitry just as I was typing a private reply to ExcuseMyBellicosity thanking him for posting a picture of my son's sub two weeks ago. Man, talk about having FR withdrawals!
(Hi. I'm Lakeside. [Hiiii Lakeside] I'm an FRaholic)
I have a doggie story I've been meaning to share with you guys. We've got a new dog--another rescue. Penny is a terrier/wire haired chihuahua mix. She was found in our neighbor's pontoon boat (that was tied at their dock) after another neighbor reported seeing some guy toss Penny in as he was going close by in his own boat. Just threw her away!! Well, for various reasons my neighbors couldn't keep her. We could.
Our other rescue doggie, the three legged Kix(Aussie mix), wasn't so sure she wanted that little rat dog but now they are fast friends---as long as Penny keeps her distance from Kix's food bowl.
Now, along with this nifty new laptop of mine I got a new printer/scanner. Just as soon as I figure out (o, noooo!) how to operate said scanner I'll post pictures of our doggies to the Finest. Perhaps sometime next year....
Our freepers have such beautiful/funny pets.
G'nite, (((((dutchess)))))
We had tornados along with Rita--and it came right over my home town. We got electricity a week ago Fri.--got home last Monday. Our entire town was without electricity for 3-4 weeks.
The Red Cross did not put our Zip Code in as a disaster zone because Katrina victims abused the system. They caught a lot of flack--blamed the media but there was no media.
FEMA did a good job here.
No Walmart for 3 weeks!--and we weren't a disaster zone.
