Are you trying to actually tell us that Miers was your candidate?

Nope......She was the presidents pick. I don't really know a damn thing about her and only a bit more about Roberts, since he actually had a hearing.

The process was screwed and there will be a price for that. It was a big mistake to not allow her a day or two to explain herself.

You will see a very small pie to pick from now. Bush may have to wait a while.

In the mean time, much of the country has had a look at Conservative governance, and they are no longer confortable with it.

That is the price. she should have had her day, and that is all that was important, whether she did well, or lost.

She is the one that withdrew. No one kept her or the president from having their day but themselves.

If they really had faith that Miers had the ability to win over the Senate and the country the way Roberts then they would have stayed with the nomination.

There is no shame in realizing a losing cause and cutting your loses.

She was Harry Reid's pick. Bush screwed up when he put Democrats ahead of conservatives.
The process was screwed and there will be a price for that. It was a big mistake to not allow her a day or two to explain herself.
Miers was the one who chose to withdraw because the Bush administration refused to release relevant documents for the Senate to do its job. Bush thought he could be clever and short-circuit the process by offering a candidate whose only documents were privileged to the President. Blame Bush for that decision, not the people who rightly protested it out.

But she's not the first nominee to be withdrawn, either. Reagan did the same to one of his own. Ginsberg was never given his day to explain himself.
You will see a very small pie to pick from now. Bush may have to wait a while.
Good, Bush should have limited himself to the small pie to start with. Bush will not wait a while. Expect a solid conservative pick within the next 48 hours.
In the mean time, much of the country has had a look at Conservative governance, and they are no longer confortable with it.
No, Bush has been showing big government squishy governance trying to appease the unappeasable Democrats, and that is what the people aren't comfortable with. This is a repudiation of liberalism, not conservatism.
That is the price. she should have had her day, and that is all that was important, whether she did well, or lost.
The price was already paid at the point Miers was chosen. Bush should have never picked her. I think the cost would have been much higher if Miers would have been grilled in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Yes, there was a cost, and for that alone Bush should have never made this ill-advised pick, but he chose to pay the bill before it compounded interest.
