I know you have spent hours working on Republican campaigns -- Blackwell would make an awesome Governor. We have also discussed our differences with Pres Bush before so anyone that accuses you of being in lockstep doesn't read very well.
Dr. Coburn's reluctance on this nomination spoke volumes to me -- I expect the next nomination to be someone we can all get behind. For whatever reason he nominated her, I don't think she was thoroughly vetted from some of the info that came out this week. Personally I would have preferred she go through the Judicial hearings but I think it was her choice to withdraw. I heard her visits to some key Republican Senators did not go well. I think she withdrew on her own over and above the loud roar of conservatives. She was over her head IMHO. This President would have stuck with her to the end because that is the way he is, and I cannot fathom him putting any pressure on her.
With the visits going poorly, I think she saw the handwriting ont he wall and did the honorable thing.
That looks like the case to me too, PhiKap. The info that just came out was devastating.
The document cover looks like it was the agreed upon 'way out.' And I'm in agreement that the President will go with one of the short-list bonafides.
Much prayer continues to go up for this nomination. I truly believe that it's the most important decision he will make in his 8 years, outside of the WoT.
And thanks for verifying that I'm not in lockstep. It gets tiring defending myself against that constant false charge. Makes me kinda mad, if you know what I mean......
