Huh??? There are plenty of conservatives to varying degrees. NO kidding.
"We have secular, Catholic, and Evengelical conservatives"
Nooooo...I had no idea. I guess all the various religious and nonreligious conservatives I worked with while at university as well as those of every conceivable race and ethnic group off and on in the 20 some years since, were but an optical allusion. I'm just discovering there are Black, American Indian, Indian American and Asian conservatives too. When I referenced the writings of Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell in my college Sociology courses, I thought they were white, until now. Thanks for learnin' me. /sarcasm
There's also Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and atheist conservatives and people of all nationalities and races not just in this country but 'round the world.
"That anger towards liberal values remains, but I don't think the unity is there now."
GW, and not the Democratic opposition, has been President for 5 years. One could predict the differences among conservatives would become more apparent and increasingly more of an issue as Republicans retained power.
" Just read the number of dissensions, and you will start to see the picture."
Oh, I get the picture and always have. And it's very obvious on FR, something I noticed almost from the moment I first arrived. I've probably spent more time reading FR than you have and thus am well aware of the past and current dissension, tension and disagreement on the forum.
You apparently fail to understand that Reagan conservatives are the largest, strongest and most prominent part of the conservative base and will probably be so for years to come.
