I likewise am a party officer in Kansas, and will tell you the damage to an already divided party is going to be considerable.
Then Kansas is different than Oklahoma. We want to oust the DemocRAT Governor and have a grassroots nominee in Ernest Istook who supported Dr. Tom Coburn. We are united in our desire to retire Brad Henry like we sent Brad Carson packing in the last Senate race.
I was at an Executive Committee Meeting last week and the main topic was the OU Bomber not the SCOTUS nomination. We learned that it takes every member of the grassroots pulling together in the last election and are not going to allow what goes on in D.C. to influence our local elections. We want the Senate and the Governor's Mansion here in Oklahoma to be Republican. Our Senate has never been Republican.
That is what is important to Oklahoma Republicans. We elected two fine men to be our Oklahoma Senators with Dr. Coburn sitting on Judiciary. I have complete faith in him that he will do the right thing on a nominee because he never does anything without a lot of research behind his decision. His lukewarm response to this after his support for Roberts spoke volumes to me.
