I saw Patrick Leahy just about doing the dance of joy...over the fact that the conservatives smacked down Bush's pick....and that Bush's "capitol" that he had from his reelection is now GONE....

IOW---the dems will be really loaded for bear now...because they know that some conservatives don't trust Bush to make good decisons and they will exploit that.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. This is a tough one because if conservatives truly were opposed to Miers for the right reasons, then that is their right, and their constituents should expect no less. Having said that, were it just debate, that would be one thing. However, it seems that the Pubbies were eating their own and this is a sign of weakness to the Dems. They are like sharks circling their pray when they smell blood in the water.

I wonder why Karen Hughes and Condi Rice weren't smacked down as cronies when they were chosen to be on Bush's team?

Bush has made good appointments up to now. Suddenly the right is buying the MSM line that Brown and Miers were "cronies".

Lots of people need to turn off their TV's. The MSM and Dems got what they wanted when Miers withdrew this morning.

Democrats are the minority. They have no capitol.

Leahy is not a fountain of wisdom.

The Democrats are deathly afraid he'll nominate someone they vehemently oppose that no one doubts will firmly well uphold the Constitution. They have begun their talking points to again attempt a "consensus nominee".

A united enthusiastic base hurts the Democrats in '06. They have more seats endangered, in conservative leaning states.

And, btw, I trust the President generally. I do allow people make mistakes. Sometimes huge ones. The President made one with this nomination. It has been corrected. The right nominee will heal the split instaneously.
