One can pay attention and feed the soul, or one can deny it.
You say religion has no relevance, yet your page mentions you have an affinity for Buddhism?
People who say these kinds of things are usually the very people who then turn around and prosecute their own arguments (if they even bother to -- assertion is usually as far as such folks ever get) -- on the basis of attribution of nefarious motives to the person with whom they disagree, and other species of ad hominum attack; all conducted with great heat and virtually zero light, in blind devotion to some "orthodoxy" or other.... But such tactics do not represent "reasoned argument."
So don't sweat the small stuff, Cboldt. Thanks for sharing your thoughts....

I, for one, will never complain about how I am "treated" by others on this forum.
I haven't discussed McCain on this thread.
Nothing, because it's not a theory.
He has done excellently overall with his choices to this point.
I wonder why no one called Karen Hughes a crony?
There is no point in arguing as I highly doubt either of us are going to look through thousands of posts to find out who is right.
As a Christian, I was offended by some of the posts against her that I perceived as mocking her faith. Let's leave it at that.
Bottom line, she was unqualified. It was a very bad pick, but she withdrew herself from consideration, and now this fiasco is over.
Well said.
Common sense. So refreshing.
While I am SO relieved that the Miers nomination has been withdrawn, I feel a trace of resentment that we suffered with it for 3 weeks, when it could have been over in one week.
The Miers nomination revealed George W. Bush to be weak and uncertain in his presidential style, without a clear commitment to a strong republic. I still suspect that he is more conservative than the rest of the Bush family, but he is heavily influenced by Barbara, Poppy and Laura.
I have found myself mildly attacked by both sides for pointing out their abuses. Ah well, c'est la guerre.
How about that she is a Libertarian ideologue, has a track record that will be Borked in the hearings and will not be able to overcome that until she has some time in her current position.
In addition to that, I believe she withdrew her name from consideration very early on and refused to go through the crap, as did others. She will not be nominated.
This will be a mess that will not be cleaned up. Not ever.
let's hope that Sandra D. will be able to stay.....Oh wait......
She was terrible was she not?
LOL....You reap what you have sown.
I agree that the costs of a filibuster must go up. However, if the intent of the McCain 11 is to prevent a nominee from reaching the floor and not simply to prevent changing the filibuster rule, then they will not support a 24/7 filibuster either.
That's not just your belief. It's a given that we all have the same God.
LOL. Well, you just go ahead and believe it. You'll have your own little personal religion and can do whatever it is you want.
Anyone they don't like will trigger that clause.
I was already wary of GWB, and now I am moreso. I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to put forth A. Gonzales, but I pray he will not.
Both sides had those that went over the top, but they were by far a tiny minority. It is almost certain that Miers and Bush didn't read them so they certainly didn't figure into their decision.
Why focus on a few posters that went over the topic and ignore the actual issue at hand. You were disappointed by some of the posts and that is duly noted by all. Many of us were disappointed to, but it's time to address the actual issues.
