Well, I don't think it had anything to do with Clinton being or not being astute. To me it signaled that Bill knew something and he was trying to warn Blair.
And .. if Bill did know about the Wilson/CIA set-up, where would Bill have gotten that information? It could have been from one of the left-overs in the CIA, or it could have been from Hillary - who might have been in the planning and hatching of this plot to discredit and weaken Bush - so she could run in 2004.
I know that's all guesswork, but I can connect the dots.
