Baseball! World Series tonight! Let's go!
Let's Go Sox!
At Leapfrog's suggestion, I've got the live thread going, guys.
bookmark for when the game starts
7:33 CENTRAL TIME--both teams are in the Central time zones AND divisions, btw.
Bye, Houston!
GO SOX!!!!
Leni
Chi-townChief, how about a Chicagoland ping? This would be worth it, IMO!
GO SOX!
Please?
Sox win yet? Come on, already. Ok, let's get back to NORMAL television schedule already! Seriously, Fox owns a cable sports channel, why not run the series THERE instead of disrupting the broadcast network.
A message from every Red Sox fan that I know(and I know many)
GO SOX,IT'S YOUR YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!
Have not lived in Chicago since 1978, and when I lived there, we lived on the North Side, and hence were always Cubbies fans first...but we also loved our White Sox...so here, out in the Pacific Northwest, me, and the hubby are cheering for the Sox...
I was in high school, in 1959, the last time the White Sox were in the world series...during the afternoon, I had Chorus...but our Chorus teacher never made us sing during those White Sox days...instead he moved a TV into the Chorus room, and we spent our classtime watching the White Sox...of course, ,the White Sox lost that time around...
Now yesterday was my 60th birthday, and the White Sox gave me a grand birthday present...today, me and the hubby celebrate 36yrs of wedded life...hope the White Sox give us an even bigger gift, by winning the whole thing tonite...
Go Sox...
As a baseball purist, I HATE the playoffs and firmly believe the best records should go to the show (it should have been the Sox and the Cards). Given that the Sox qualify for that and the 'Stros got there through a backdoor wildcard, I hope the Sox win it all..
Ping
Tell me about it! I had about five hours of sleep after last night's marathon. Couldn't nap today. Two cups of coffee. Adrenaline starting to pump!
GO SOX!
Yahoooooooooo!!! Go Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Money. Broadcast still reaches more viewers than cable and can therefore get higher ratings which results in being able to charge more for commercials.
Whats more, the Cubs last won the World Series in 1908. The White Sox last won in 1917. So from 1918 through 2004 the city of Chicago, my home town, has gone a combined 172 seasons--172 seasons!--without winning the championship of baseball, by far the longest drought for any city, in any sport, ever.
Now we are one game away from the Promised Land, with four chances to do it. Sweet.
BTW, I may be away from this thread at some point to join some fellow Chicagoans here in St. Louis who are gathering at a local watering hole to watch the game. I would like to experience the moment with some of my countrymen in person. But if so I will rejoin you all after that.
GO SOX!
Mark for later find, say 12:30 am again
