Many adults in the United States believe Republican Rudy Giuliani should launch a White House bid, according to a poll by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion. 54 per cent of respondents would like the former New York City major to run for president in 2008.
Republican Arizona senator John McCain is second on the list of prospective candidates with 52 per cent, followed by Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton with 48 per cent, and former North Carolina senator and 2004 Democratic vice-presidential nominee John Edwards with 47 per cent.
Less than 40 per cent of respondents support bids by Massachusetts senator and 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, and U.S. state secretary Condoleezza Rice.
Giuliani garnered national and international attention in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The former New York City mayor currently heads Giuliani Partners, LLCa consulting firm.
In an Oct. 5 speech to business leaders, Giuliani opened the door for a possible White House bid, saying, "I think Ill return to politics."

Maybe I am confused, but I am not so confused that I do not know that any government that defines what the press is will then only allow the press they define to operate.
Because of the anti-Miers thing, no President Bush nominee is going to get approved now.
Roberts just got 78
I doubt it. He may be more middle of the road than some here, but to say ~anti constitution~ is to exaggerate it into silliness.
I think the war in Iraq will be the only issue most people care about. Who we elect to follow Bush will indicate whether the American people want to win this war.
The base wont elect him in the primaries.....the NRA for one will energize their base....
....and I will be among them. He will attempt to disarm america. He is a threat.
We'll see.
I just said, we'll see.... what happens.
The debate will be interesting, and those who throw up their hands, format their posts into unreadable bold, and run around like their heads have been cut off will all have a place in the debate.
For me, it's really too early in the process to know which candidate to break a sweat about.
We'll see.
FDR and Ike both had their peccadillos ... did that disqualify either in your eyes? BJ Clinton deserves scorn and worse, not because of dubious sexual escapades, but because of the wantonly irresponsible transfer of sensitive technology to the PRC in exchange for campaign contributions. IMHO, BJ Clinton should be regarded as the Benedict Arnold of the Twentieth Century.
The last two elections should have told you that the next R president will come from a big state. Rudy will carry NY, FL and probably CA with a large crossover of anti-Dean dems. With those, he doesn't need much support. Without any rising star in the R side, just about any big name D will win in 2008. Rudy is one of the few who could win.
I hope i never have to vote for McCain but i will certainly vote for him if it keeps Hillary from getting elected.
Every time Rudi's on with Hannity, Sean asks him, any chance of you beconing a pro-lifer? And every time Rudi says, no. If he came out and said I'm a pro-lifer, I'd have to call him a liar.
None of the above.
I am not a Republican....I am a conservative. If you wish for a republican to win at all costs you might as well push for Lincoln Chaffee for national office.
You're having an argument with things I didn't say now. And it's inaccurate.
Good day though :~\
Pa mom: "I personally do not know one person, democrat or republican, that wants to see Roe overturned."
JohnnyZ: "You need better friends. I know hundreds personally."
You guys, what, go around asking people this question? I suspect I know plenty who want it overturned, but I've never asked.

>>>>Rudy will repackage himself as a social and fiscal conservative and run for President. If asked why he suddenly became pro-life after years of being pro-abortion, he'll explain that as mayor of NYC, his views were more suited to the people he represented.
I've seen guys do that before, and I won't vote for it. They never mean it, and they never back up the hot air with action after being elected. John Kerry putting on the hunting togs to shoot a goose comes to mind. Pure BS.

>>>So you and all the rest of the hard liners can abstain and Hillary's minions will get her elected while you sit around because the Republican candidate doesnt represent everything you stand for. There are more issues than abortion and gay marriage.
There are very few, if any, issues where I agree with Rudy, actually. For many of us the only reason we are Republicans in the first place are issues like abortion and gay marriage. You forget that, you think that all social conservatives also agree with you on the other "republican" issues. They don't. For me, I also disagree with him on the right to keep and bear arms - where he is a clear anti, in addition to the other things you mentioned, and I hardly consider him a fiscal conservative, though he could at least pretend to run as such.
