Eye missed me, went a few miles north.

Was able to check outside, house did OK. The thing banging against my north wall was the idiot next door neighnbor's barbeque...one of those stainless monsters.

On the other side, my fence was hitting the wall...I was able to secure it somewhat before the winds began picking up again.

Roof tiles everywhere, lots of trees down.

Saving battery...will check in later.

OMG! If you see a photo of a blue trampoline, next to a dented gray truck, that's the neighbor's folly.

Looks like the clouds should part in the St. Pete/Tampa Bay area pretty soon, though.

Oh dandy, the weather chick on CNN says the can could mix with the remnants of tropical storm alpha and cause storm problems for the east coast in the coming days.

Jeb's staff now reporting ...

You are going to see Floridians helping Floridians and FEMA is here to help too. SAR teams are on the move. Certain units heading south will peel off and address smaller counties but rest will continue down South. (getting some satellite breakup) . We are ready, we are responding, anybody that has a problem, we will be there quick. ... We are joined at the hip with FEMA ... unified command. First people you will se are Floridians ... FEMA's job here is to support those folks forward ... lots of pieces in motion have to wait for hurricane to clear state.

Ben Nelson (state met guy) wind field extensive, damage in south Florida, max sustained winds down to 110, strong cat 2, extend out 90 miles to center ... Brevard got the most tornadoes .... impact of W felt first in Keys, storm surge still going on heading towards high tide ... tornado threat continues ... only good news is that W is moving fast. Offshore off Martin Co. coast in a few hours. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE LULL in Martin & PB County. West side just as furious if not moreso (paraphrasing)

Hey,

I'm looking west and see blue skies. No rain but plenty of wind still. I'm going to have to dig out a windbreaker if I venture outside again.

I was just watching CNN and they were talking to a guy from the US stranded in Cozumel. He said food was low, and had observed some looting.

I feel bad for him and all but...

If you were vacationing in Mexico, and heard a hurricane was coming.....wouldn't it make sense to leave????

Maybe it's just me, but that would be my first thought.

"I called him a few moments ago, and I was joking with him, trying to get him to open the door and stick his phone out, so I could hear the wind.

So..he said..."Hold on"

And he turned on the vaccuum cleaner. "

Funny, funny, funny!!

Re: the trampoline picture..when we were prepping for Rita we took the legs off of our trampoline and weighted it down with firewood, just to be safe. It was a bit of a pain to get it put back up but I can't imagine anyone leaving their trampoline unsecured. My cousin's friend didn't secure his before Rita hit. It ended up smashing the windshield of his work truck. Doh!
