"... rest assured that Jeb has things well under control,
unlike other Governors....(wink wink)"

That sure _sounds_ like a "meanspirited, racist, sexist" remark - even if it does reflect reality...

They'll be OK. They're probably hiding in a closet about now, which is no fun, but they'll be OK. The storm is moving too fast to really cause much flooding, and flooding is what really kills large numbers of people. The winds kill very few unlucky people. They just scare heck out of the rest of us.

NN, the links for Orlando TV are coming back as outdated. Where did you find those reflector sites? Normally I love DirecTV but just as they were pinpointing the possible tornadoes in my city I got "searching for satellite signal." Now that in itself is significant but then I realized I had the internet via cable! but the links are out of date!!! 3 steps away from safe room and listening for freight train ...

Anderson Cooper is on Marco; actually they're getting some surge from the N rising very quickly right now.....but it's not going to be extremely high.

Stronger gusts in Punta Gorda now. Probably peaking above 60. Power flickered a few more times, and I'll be sort of surprised if it stays on.

It seems as if the winds are coming in waves. Pine trees in the back yard are all tilted
in the same direction, looks rather organized. Even the palm branches are aimed in the
same direction. Orderly, quite orderly I might add.

My husband's first question to me this morning was...how's North Port. He feels bad for the Charlotte/Sarasota county areas because we were down there a couple months back and couldn't believe the amount of businesses, homes, etc that suffered damage in Charley and were still not rebuilt.

I'm not reading thru all the posts here, just wanted to check in. We amazingly still have power here in Delray for the moment (we usually lose it as soon as the hurricane comes within the boundries of the state!) So, I thought I would get on the computer while I could, update my blog and then come here and check out the Wilma thread.
It's really windy (maybe 50 mpg right now) but not extremely rainy (altho both the dogs decided it was a bad idea to go out and do their business--wimps!) And I know there's a hurricane because I have a vicious headache. Does anyone else get those?
Anyway, God bless everyone in the path, hopefully she won't be so bad. I guess at least we'll get to see what the eye looks like this time. Not sure if that's a good thing...
