My mom was not allowed to go trick or treating when she was little for religious reasons, and she hated not going out.

My mom went over board with her own kids. She loved getting us dressed up, and she made the best popcorn balls to hand out as treats. She didn't have great Halloweens as a kid, but she made it great for her kids.

Glad that your mom found a wonderful way, to make up for the 'bad' Halloweens that she had when she was a child....made for great Halloweens for you...

When I was little we had a neighbor who would hand out pop corn balls. And then there was the big candy scare so no more homemade Halloween goodies :-(

I think I will make pop corn balls this year for our after trick or treating driveway party. In my neighborhood, everyone sits outside and hands out candy, we usually set up a table with roasted pumpkin seeds, cookies and hot cider or chocolate to give out to anyone who wants to come visit for a while. One year we dragged out the TV and played "The Nightmare Before Christmas" for the kids--it was like the Drive In!!
