There was a split between those looking at the Middle East and those looking for an adversary of the same sort as the old Soviet Union. Don't think that even the former were appreciative of relgiuous fanaticism that was in play. It was like the FBI's attitude toward Branch Davidian, Secular minds hobbled their world views.

Thanks so much for that link. I don't have my Letter yet, but I'm anxious to read this interview in it's entirety.

And .. this statement is priceless: "I think what happened was one of the 9-11 commissioners and her staff saw the potential, if this was carried out, to embarrass her personally."

Since there was only ONE female on the commission - I'm guessing he's talking about Gorelick. But .. I think it's about more than just protecting herself .. she was there to keep Able Danger out of the report to protect the Clintons.

In the video listings, they only have one program from the 19th - so maybe later tomorrow it will be there.

Chalk this up to the powerful protecting the powerful ... except the republicans do it unilaterally.

President Bush strikes me as a good poker player. If so, then all you can do is wait and see what his hand holds. Sometimes if you wait long enough the truth comes out, no matter who hides it.

The American Thinker February 3, 2004 | Thomas Lifson

*****

One final note on George W. Bush’s management style and his Harvard Business School background does not derive from the classroom, per se. One feature of life there is that a subculture of poker players exists. Poker is a natural fit with the inclinations, talents, and skills of many future entrepreneurs. A close reading of the odds, combined with the ability to out-psych the opposition, leads to capital accumulation in many fields, aside from the poker table.

By reputation, the President was a very avid and skillful poker player when he was an MBA student. One of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand. This is a pattern of behavior one sees repeatedly in George W. Bush’s political career. He is not one to loudly proclaim his strengths at the beginning of a campaign. Instead, he bides his time, does not respond forcefully, at least at first, to critiques from his enemies, no matter how loud and annoying they get. If anything, this apparent passivity only goads them into making their case more emphatically.

What are we going to do if we know the truth ? Demand a big investigation ? Pass a lot of new laws ? Waste a lot of valuable time ? It is over, the milk is spilled. All we can accomplish at this point is giving the critics a bat to hit the administration over the head with.

Wrong. All we do by not exposing the truth of this is to encourage future government officials to do anything in the future that they wish and just cover it up if exposition is threatened.

I would love to know what the real story is but I suppose doing our laundry in public might not be in our best interest.

Do you ever want to know the whole truth about OKC.......... about Flight 800 .......... about why Clinton/China/technology transfers weren't really exposed....... etc., etc.

The laundry needs done, even if it needs to be done at the local laundromat.

BINGO ............ but now I must ask you this question. Why do you think this administration continues the cover on this and all other things?

Only till he goes against one thing that some freepers don't like. Just you wait, he'll say he's not for completely getting rid of Affermative Action, or that he thinks that the guest worker program is a good idea, or that he thinks Specter is a good Senator, or something like that.

Then, he'll instantly become a 'RINO Sellout' who we should beat in the primary with a 'Real Conservative'. Or perhaps they are going to 'stay home' to 'teach him a lesson'.

Trust me. It'll happen within a few months of the Able Danger thing being over.

I agree...

The FULL story of the Clinton Administrations criminal negligence, mismanagement or traitorous behavior by ignoring multiple militant Islamic attacks against America, Somalian mission creep and then retreat without retribution, Flight 800, Campaign contributions from China, Chinese agents in sensitive positions, American technology to assist Chinese rocket launches, North Korean fiasco, mucking up the Middle East with "guidance" from Arafat, etc, etc, must be kept buried or all hell will break loose.

The Clinton "legacy" is what is at stake...
Hillary's "right" to the White House could be jeopardized.
The Clinton bib wearing kool-aid drinkers are on full alert to salvage the worthless bastards reputation and "legacy"...... This is the Mission Impossible - once the truth comes out...

I'm not overly confident, we will hear the truth in our lifetime...

I've transcribed the Curt Weldon interview on the Savage Nation Radio talk show. I've posted it on my blog along with an mp3 audio file of same. It took me a couple hours and it's almost 5 AM, so needless to say, I'm beat. Can someone please ping folks who want to know about this?

The transcript and audio are here at QT Monster: http://qtmonster.typepad.com/qt_monsters_place/2005/10/curt_weldontran.html.
