Rep. Kirt Weldon is on Michael Savage's radio program, and he is implying Rumsfeld is the one blocking further investigation into Able Danger.
Weldon is fuming; says he personally (in a committee hearing) asked Rumsfeld about the investigation being blocked. Rumsfeld replied that he would 'get back to Weldon with a response.' Weldon says he still has gotten nothing from Rumsfeld.
Weldon to give a speech in a few moments this evening on the floor of the House. It should be aired on CSPAN this evening.
Thanks for the ping!
I agree that it needs to be done, I just don't have any confidence that the effort will be worth the results.
I think it will result in a minor player falling on his sword (he will probably get the Sandy Burglar treatment).
C-SPAN does not have it scheuled for a re-run. But I'm hoping it will be available in archives by tomorrow. If so, I will be posting a thread with a link to the archive. I haven't seen the speech - and I want to.
Please send C-SPAN an email requesting that it be shown again.
The number I have is 1-877-762-8762
No, and I'm not from moveon.org either. This thing has the feel of a tar baby and I think we should focus on the major goals of this administration.
I've read the entire thread to this point and I can't remember reading where did the warning on the Cole get reported and who sat on it?
Brings tears to one's eyes...
Whoever is at fault for this, and whoever is responsible for the coverup, and for trying to destroy Mr. Schaeffer needs to be exposed, whatever the political cost.
Like someone said earlier in the thread: nation before party.
No, I didn't, unless you are referring to Corsi. But I sent them several hundred dollars to get the word out about Kerry.
"Freeh: I think we're very interested in what the 9-11 Commission didn't do with respect to Able Danger."
I find that to be a very interesting statement. Who is the "we" he's saying is interested and I love the fact that he said they're interested in what the commission "didn't do".
They have done their duty. They knew Kerry and his phony war record based on firsthand experience. They know nothing about Schaeffer.
So, the SBVs didn't stay together to put out fires? I think some of them are freepers.
I hope they dust the pens for fingerprints! I sure would.
I'm not okay with destroying the career of a veteran Naval officer either. If I had to choose between this officer and Rumsfeld I would have to go with Rumsfeld because I believe he has a more complete picture.
It's the Clinton administration that made the mistake but it is the Bush administration that will be using their time trying to unravel this mess.
You know .. you're really getting tiresome with your constant harping that this President is running a big cover-up about this.
You're entitled to what you believe - BUT YOU HAVE NO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR THEORY - when you have E V I D E N C E - then you can mouth off!!
I envision it turning into an expose on inefficient bureaucracy with blue ribbon committees rearranging the furniture for years to come.
I would love to know what the real story is but I suppose doing our laundry in public might not be in our best interest.
Been reading this whole thread and as usual, the Freepers inspire and conquer. Could you please ping me if you get a copy of the speech.or..better yet..a replay link to CSPAN? I am kinda warming up to this whole Mr. Weldon goes to Washington thing...Bout time we get some REAL MEN running the country and not a bunch of pantywaist career politicians and bureaucrats! GO WELDON!!
This is just a bump to remind everyone to call/email Congressman Weldon our appreciation.
