Good! The more I learn about this great northern state, the more I like it (my wife would never let us go there :-( ).

If this could only be done nationwide, the overall crime rate would drop like a rock....

the lifting of bans on guns in public buildings. That could leave government workers inside vulnerable to attack, said Anchorage Police Chief Walter Monegan. Hey Chief...someone about to commit murder might ignore a no guns in the building policy, you fool.

Duh! Mr. Police Chief.
In our area it is illegal to bring a gun into a court house but they have metal detectors anyway. Why? Because a criminal does not follow the law.
They sure picked a couple of morons to get statements from.

The handgun permit was intended to eliminate problems in going from one jurisdiction to another since the local rules varied considerably. The permit system didn't actually change anything but the local enforcement for the few permit holders.

Maybe a little fear will take some of the "pain in the ass" out of some of those bureaucrats. LOL

We are looking to make it uniform to all 50 states, said spokeswoman Kelly Hobbs from the NRAs Fairfax, Va., headquarters. Without it, it creates an unfair, inconsistent and confusing patchwork of local firearm ordinances. Bingo!
But then again governments like anything that is inconsistent and confusing. Look at our tax Code(s). Or John Kerry.

It has been my experience that anyone anywhere can carry concealed without a permit, in the absence of a metal detector that is...
I saw one young man carry a semiautomatic in the national mall in the DC a few weeks back, I saw it while he was having his breakfast next to me at the McDonald's.

" -- Gun owners will be allowed to keep their firearms in their vehicle, even if the car is parked on private property where the owner has a no-gun policy. -- "
Incredibly enough, there are lots of conservatives on FR who insist that private property 'rights' are being violated by such laws.

Great! Lets do here in Hawaii next. I'm afraid to take any of my guns out my front door, they have so many fire arms laws here. For instance: in transporting a gun, even to a shooting range, or anywhere else, has to be in a closed case and if it is in the trunk of the car the ammo has to be in another section of the car. And of course they all have to be registered. They make it so hard to sell a gun here that I just gave up on trying to sell any of mine. I guess they will have to be buried with me. (not joking)

Plus, It runs counter to the intent of public buildings to establish the checkpoints, said Juneau Police Chief Richard Gummow. It also runs counter to the intent of public buildings to restrict peoples rights in the very facilities they help pay for.
