I agree entirely and you have my personal apology. Assuming the 2% figure is true, unfortunately it seems as though my generalization was more true than not.

I remember in 2000 they were running those "it was like Bush murdered my daddy all over again" commercials because he vetoed some hate crimes legislation (even though the murderer in the case got the death penalty and Texas already had a hate crimes law). I was in a store and decent enough young white guy was talking to decent enough young black guy. Young black guy says he will never vote for George Bush because george Bush vetoed hate crimes legislation. The dem approach on this works.

By the way I ultimately blame the republicans. They sit around while dems accuse them of horrible things and say "tut tut" and are sure people will understand.

It's really a shame because George Bush has avoided anything smacking of racism his whole life. Witness for example his quick abandonments of Trent Lott and Bill Bennett. This is the reward he gets.

Your apology is accepted.

I wasn't expecting one. I just wanted you to be aware that you were painting with a broad brush. I'm not PC by a long shot and hope my post won't keep you from speaking on this topic. Fact-based, reasoned discussion of why we can't get past race is long overdue. And all races should be a part of the discussion. But we'll accomplish alot more if we expose why liberals fear conservatism. Many everyday people do what they can to squash liberals twisted history where they come off as saviors. We'll have better luck if true conservatives work with us.

Being defined as Republican is a political distinction but conservatism is a way of life. Just my opinion.

Your statement wasn't in the same vane as some of the other posts.
