Unless they specifically mentioned the muslim angle I was going to mention the same thing. People go nuts in boot camps, sometimes they lose while holding a semiautomatic assault rifle with a burst option.

I joined the Navy in 3/67. We had a kid in our group who apparently had never been away from home and was clearly a loser. He had had a raging case of acne and all we could use were safety razors. He must have lost a quart of blood (exaggeration, of course). After a couple of days, even before we went over to our barracks at Great Lakes, he ended up in a corner, huddled up and crying.....color him gone.
