Unfiled City Tax Forms Also Cited In Case
LOVELAND, Ohio -- An Ohio woman was arrested after she didn't pay just more than $1 that she owed in income taxes, WLWT-TV in Cincinnati reported.
Deborah Combs owed the city of Loveland $1.16 last year, but she also hadn't filed her city income tax forms in five years, the television station said.
She said officers pulled her over and acted as though she were a violent criminal.
"One sheriff approached my car with his hand on his gun," she said. "Another from the other side of the car leaned in and said, 'Are you Deborah Combs?' He said, 'We have a warrant for your arrest.' I was absolutely shocked."
Combs said she thinks the arrest and charges are over-the-top for the amount she owed.
"What they've spent in stamps is more than what I owe," she said.
She could also end up paying hundreds of dollars in fines for the unfiled tax forms, the television station reported.
Loveland City Manager Fred Enderle said the amount Combs owes isn't the real issue.
"Whether it's $1 they owe us or $1,000, it's not fair to the rest of the public to not pursue that person," he said. "There is some expense involved, but it goes back to the principle. We have laws. The laws have to be complied with. At what cost do you stop enforcing the law?"
Combs is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 20.
That's pretty much standard procedure...
Remember the golden rule, treat others as you would want them to treat you.
When the cops treat regular citizens like they are potential lunatics, they are only asking for the public to consider them in the same light.
No State income tax in Texas.
Whoever the tax commissioner is should be booted out of ofice by the taxpayers themselves. If it costs them $100.00 to arrest someone, they just lost $99.00 on this deal. What jury, in its' right mind would convict her for a buck? This is sheer stupidity on the town's behalf. I can't believe any official is really that damned dumb!!
Can you spell T-E-A P-A-R-T-Y
Time to, well never mind, no sence in my getting banned.
They blame the cops..but say nothing of the judge who signed the warrant for her arrest.
Incomplete article!
Why didn't the writer give a detail or two about her not having filed a tax return in five years? Does she owe taxes for five years, or just the $1.16?

I love the woman whining bout the amount but doesnt explain why she didnt pay it...Cops do go overboard....i met a few cops in my time and they were almost all buttheads
Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet
Taxman!
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
Don't ask me what I want it for (Aahh Mr. Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more (Aahh Mr. Heath)
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me
Taxman!

Meanwhile back in the real world
The people are generally OK, its the fake Repubs like Taft & Voinovich who screw things up.
BTW, Cleveland and Cincy have urban problems rivaling N.O., but as long as stick & ball sports distract us, nothing will change.

Listen, I set up several hundred accounting systems in the USA and they all had accounts receivable. We also were smarter than these idiots. We wrote of any amount less than 2.50. Why? It took more effort and cost and office time to collect receive and deposit that it was worth. You just don't get it. Do what's right and skip the small stuff, its chump change, pocket change. When a city is so stupid its chasing 1.16 they are stuck on stupid. Don't you get stuck on stupid.
"Whether it's $1 they owe us or $1,000, it's not fair to the rest of the public to not pursue that person,"
uh... fair to the public? where does the $ come from to pay these people's salaries? how much is it costing to pursue that $1? geez. gov empl = use of common sense not allowed.

I guess the fact that the traffic stop is the most dangerous situation for cops didn't cross your mind?
I would suggest reviewing the history of police fatalities while on the job. You will find that traffic stops and domestic disturbance calls are the most frequent stituations.
But I forget, the cops are always wrong.
In the city's view, this is not about this woman and her $1. It is about creating a climate of fear that ensures that the rest of the other 'free' citizens 'voluntarily' comply with their masters decrees. A couple of hundred $pent persecuting this woman is cheaper in the long run than auditing hundreds of other people.
And Cindy Sheehan walks around free, worshipped by the left.
Oh, the humanity.
