The players then walked off the field, catcher rolled ball to mound bbased on the out call.
This was a crazy thing.
To accept it, as did the Black Sox, shows they are bush league -- Black Sox then, Black Sox now.
I agree 100%, The inning was over at that point, very bad call
"To accept it, as did the Black Sox, shows they are bush league -- Black Sox then, Black Sox now."
You can't be serious. While it was a horrible call, there's not a Major league team that would not take that W in the same circumstance.
So end it with the Black Sox BS.
No, he didn't. He signaled no contact (arm extended, palm down).
Then he signaled strike (clenched fist - the same call as any other strike).
But he never jerked the fist back (meaning out).
The clenched fist signal DOES NOT MEAN OUT when done by the Ump at the plate. For the other umps it does, but at the plate it simply means Strike.
Before you flame me, let me state I hate when games end this way. Its lame. Even with a replay, there is room for doubt. Its so much better when a catcher knows his craft and tags the batter.
To equate a controversial call by the plate umpire with a conspiracy by players to take money to purposely lose a World Series shows YOU are bush league!
