I saw one clip of it playing backwards and it looked like the ball bounced, but the replay definitely looks like it was a catch, and that's how it should have been ruled

But, whether bounced or caught the issue is the ump called the out.

The players then walked off the field, catcher rolled ball to mound bbased on the out call.
