Speaking as someone who came very close to becoming a professor, I can tell you that the only profession with more gays is that of hairdresser, or maybe Jesuit Priest.

On the local talk radio show in Seattle I caught a snippet of news about some student at Washington State University (or perhaps it was Univ. of Wash) that is a proud Christian and believes homosexuality is a sin (or something close to this).

It seems that to get into their Education Department (he wants to be a teacher) you have to take a teacher's apptitude test or something. I believe they said he failed the test and can't enter the department as he does not embrace diversity enough, or some such thing.
