What did he do wrong?
Let's see; the charges are theft, trespassing, criminal mischief and failing to register as a sex offender in Oregon.
My question for you is what did he do right?
Okay so he made several (dozen) mistakes, is that any reason to arrest him? I mean what do we know of his childhood? Would you be so quick to convict him if you knew that his parents didn't let him go trick or treating in 1974?
There are always circumstances that cause someone to end up on the wrong side of the law...and there is always an excuse that even a bad lawyer can find to excuse criminal behavior.
Seems to me that the guy is just having a bad life
