Rove Said to Testify in CIA Leak Case
AP ^ | October 6, 2005 | JOHN SOLOMON

Posted on 10/06/2005 12:19:41 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative

Federal prosecutors have accepted an offer from presidential adviser Karl Rove to give 11th-hour testimony in the case of a CIA officer's leaked identity but have warned they cannot guarantee he won't be indicted, according to people directly familiar with the investigation.

The persons, who spoke only on condition of anonymity because of grand jury secrecy, said Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has not made any decision yet on whether to file criminal charges against the longtime confidant of President Bush or others.

The U.S. attorney's manual requires prosecutors not to bring witnesses before a grand jury if there is a possibility of future criminal charges unless they are notified in advance that their grand jury testimony can be used against them in a later indictment.

Rove has already made at least three grand jury appearances and his return at this late stage in the investigation is unusual.

The prosecutor did not give Rove similar warnings before his earlier grand jury appearances.

I see from looking at other replies to your clueless post that I'm not the only one to inform you that Larry Johnson is wrong.

I hope I am wrong, but I wanted to be the first to post the infamous ham sandwich (as in "easy to get a grand jury to indict...")
All humor aside, has the world gone Dim-o-nutty at an accelerated rate, or am I just having a bad, bad dream?

Meaning what? For months now you've come out with the positive spin with facts to spare.

It means I have common sense.

:)

I think George W. Bush would be wise to cut Karl Rove loose.

Yes, how dare that Karl Rove set the record straight with fact. Wilson and Plame should have been free to spread whatever tall tales they wished and any who refuted them should be indicted and stand trial for murmuring a peep.

A perjury indictment (at the least) for Rove has been the buzz on K Street for days now.

If Karl falls...the hope is he'll let go of the President's coattails first. (But, "they" don't seem to be counting on it)

Frankly, "they" sound like idiots.

Scary to think such shallow thinkers populate that neck of the woods, but of course we knew that.

Rove's offer to testify again has been on the table since last July.

If that's true then Rove is going in to testify that it was Judy Miller herself that told him about Wilson/Plame. Miller is the source.

This white house is SOOOO messed up... I am not sure I have the days left in my lifetime to figure it all out.
Bush dropped the ball......I don't care what anyone says otherwise.

Here's the NY Times version of this story. From the NYT, it doesn't appear that anything will be decided tomorrow.

Perjury? Then it's no big deal. The RATS told us that when Clinton perjured himself. Of course, maybe it has to be about sex.

I agree "they" sound like idiots. But, what's scary is "they" have access to what once was called the corridor of power.

And, they are nervous. Very nervous.

We're living in a world gone mad. The Dimms are undoing elections through not only the SC, but the DA office as well....Delay, (possibly) Frist, (possibly) Rove.

With these players out the way...the other "they" have a clear shot at the President.

I've been upset about this for about a week.

And, I am out of ideas on how to fight back.

Perjury about sex is ok. Didn't you learn anything in the 90s? ;-)

Are you Terry Moran?

If not, please do not quote the MSM/Dimm talking points here.

If ever there was a time to circle the wagons, this is it. There's a coup underway, and it must be stopped.

"Rove volunteered in July."

Thank you!

Now, pardon me for raising my voice just a tad, but nobody, particularly in the MSM seems to have noticed this, and....

ROVE VOLUNTEERED IN JULY.

It is now OCTOBER!

Thank you!

Sounds like Rove is going to be indicted. Why else would he do this at the last minute?

"Rove offered in July to return to the grand jury for additional testimony and Fitzgerald accepted that offer Friday after taking grand jury testimony from the formerly jailed New York Times reporter Judith Miller."

Well, apparently there is nothing "last minute" about this. Fitzgerald is crossing the 't's and dotting the 'i's.

.....Never in my memory has so much been made over nothing....

Which in my conspiratorial mind means that there is something unknown to us causing the uproar. Judith Miller did not go to jail to protect the Scooter source. When we learn why she went to jail, we may learn the secret

"Rove offered in July to return to the grand jury for additional testimony and Fitzgerald accepted that offer Friday after taking grand jury testimony from the formerly jailed New York Times reporter Judith Miller."

So Rove waited until Miller testified to add his 2-cents. Dollars-to-doughnuts that Rove testifies that it was Miller that told him about Plame/Wilson.
