Nagin says he's worked for weeks to try to find the financing that would allow him to keep the city workers on the payroll.

Did he check his personal Swiss account. It's the one right after Arafat's.

I read your link - interesting ------ then there was this little disclaimer ----

The Bring New Orleans Back Fund is the only non-profit fund exclusively dedicated to the restoration of the City of New Orleans. No administration or site hosting fees are taken out of your donation. 100% of every dollar, less transaction costs for card processors, goes directly to rebuilding our city.

Ahh....the fine print! I would be interested to know if anyone is actually donating to that website!

It took him this long to figure out that the city was not operating as normal and the employees weren't needed at this time.....

Rats! I thought he was going to resign... but now the question must be... do all cities work on immediate flow of tax dollars.. don't cities normally have a 3 - 6 reserve designed for just these types of events??? What about designated resources from other sources.. they cannot be spent on just anything.. also, what about the tons of FEMA $$s going into the city.. none of this makes sense.. but then again... nothing has ever made sense in NO..

I guess my question calls for Cities to be managed like a business.. Oh MY.. you all must be laughing at me now...

They mentioned the FEMA money on the radio (United Radio Broadcast-formally WWL). Evidently, FEMA money couldn't be used in that manner.

Betcha dollars to donuts that by this time tomorrow, the good Mayor and the MSM will be spinning that this is *also* the President's fault.
