No it's not. It's no more outrageous than putting Miers in the same basket as Janice Rogers Brown, or John Roberts.In fact there was NOT a conservative revolt over Thomas.

I'm as conservative as you can be, and my long knife remained sheathed during the entire high-tech lynching.

I don't recall any of my conservative acquaintences having a problem with Thomas either.

Well that explains your confusion. Ask some conservatives who also worked to elect the disappointment called G.H.W. Bush. Thomas has always been supported with the vast majority of conservatives - EVEN BEFORE he answered the charges of Anita Hill.

We have been paying attention a long, long, long time. We waited 40 years for this moment - and G.W. Bush choked.

Very few conservatives had long knives out for Thomas and most, like myself, strongly supported him. We hated what the Liberals attempted to do to him through Anita Hill.

I took a day off from work and went to the hearings and visited the offices of several Senators, including some who were NOT in my home state to urge them to vote for Thomas.
