"The caveat is, I don't know this woman. She could end up being fabulous." Rush then goes on to say, "Why do we have to roll the dice?"

That's the kicker. If you have a nominee with a record, the record gets drudged up and used against the nominee.

So, with a difficult record to parse (for us as well as the Dims), there are these options:

1. Immediately oppose, because Bush picked her
2. Immediately oppose, because of unknown record or because (any given RINO or Dim) expresses anything other than rabid hatred of the nominee
3. Immediately support, because Bush picked her
4. Immediately support, because (any given trusted conservative) expressed support
5. Wait and see what comes to light in a period longer than 2 hours.

I'm opting for choice #5.

It's the best choice so far.

I like #5 also. I had my heart set on Brown...but I'm trying hard to KEEP an open mind.

I understand why sooooo many feel truly let-down and disappointed. I do too in some ways...but I also believe we may have a sneaky pick that will happily surprise us all.

C'mon man, get with the program? Don't you know that WE KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW here, we can see far in the past, and deep into the future! It is already a known quanitity! Not only should we have been bemoaning this pick since 8 AM today, we should have been screaming about it last week!

I'm with you friend, although I am somewhat dissapointed, I am willing to learn more and hope for the best. I know this kind of rationalism will get me painted as a "bush-bot" or a Repubaton, but what can ya do?

Yes choice #5. I am disappointed that so many people here are jumping on this woman and the President when they can't possibly know anything about her. Sure I wish Bush had put a "Scalia-Thomas" up. But there are tons of people just like them, who aren't even known to be like them. I wish people would be rational enough to see what this lady is like before they throw their hands up and give up. I'd like to have had a fight and put a hard conservative in the rats faces and make them fight, but that didn't happen. So right now, we can either whine and moan like a bunch of old ladies, or we can pray this woman is a real firm conservative, like everyone who knows her has come out and said she is, and support her. She appears to be significantly more conservative than o'conner is, and that's a big win right there.
