Fred Barnes is right. Too many people here and elsewhere are realy jumping the gun. Just because people like us who have never met or talked to her don't know anything about her, does not mean she can't possibly be very conservative. I wish Bush had picked someone clearly conservative, but I will wait to make up my mind until more is known. A lot of people are really over reacting. Sekulo, Hecht, Laura Bush, and her Pastor and the people of her VERY conservative church have vouched for her. I don't want to get burned by another stealth lib either, but a little patience would be nice, and it would be nice if people gave her a chance to prove what she's like before hanging her on the cross. I'd of preferred Ludig or Pryor, or someone like them, but there are plenty of people just as conservative as them that are not known as well as they are. That's just a fact.

Is there anyone so far who is a known conservative that has come out saying she's not conservative? I have yet to hear anyone say that.

For the record, I have not contended either way whether she is a strict Constructionist or not.

My objection is centered more along the lines I feel there were better qualified candidates.

Note- I am not refering to ideology. I am refering to experience and her intellectual contributions to the Courts. In this sense, I feel she is only adequate and that is a disappointment.

Well said!

Many reliable conservatives began their political lives as Democrats who later "saw the light" and became republicans, or at least very conservative democrats. Just because she may be a recent "convert" to conservatism doesn't mean she can't be a "reliable conservative"
